I'm sure I'm posting this in the wrong place, so hopefully it will be moved to the correct board. (Not sure where this should go.)

My question concerns tickets given to Disney Cast Members, and what Disneyland's policy is regarding this. A friend of my sister who works for Disney Theatricals in New York gave her free cast member tickets to my sister (they are 1-day park hoppers) and said she could use them.

My sister gave them to me.

They are plastic cards pre-printed with the cast members name (both have her name on them). They say "NOT FOR SALE" in big red letters and "non transferable" at the top.

The cast member in question did say we could use them, but I certainly don't want to do anything against Disney policy and I'm thinking since she works for Theatricals, she may not even know the actual policy.

Does anyone know if I can use these? What's the policy? Anyone have any similar experience?

She also said they were for "any" Disney park, but they both do have "CA" pre-printed on them above the "valid through 6/11/2009" line.

Any help here is GREATLY appreciated!

I had a friend that gave me a couple of those (she managed a Disney store) but it clearly states non-transferable & with the name on it, I'm sure you have to prove identity..... I wouldn't chance it. How do they know you didn't find those or steal them..... besides the ticket prices are cheap right now!!

PS: I kept the tickets she gave me & added them to my Disney collection.....

Well my cousins husband is a fireman in WDW and he gets 10 tickets (?) per year...give or take...we always go for free. We just tell him when we want to go and he meets us at the gate, get's his card scanned, we get our tickets, and we're good to go! I'm not sure how it works in DL, and if they run on a different system, so idk if you would be able to do that.

They don't check the cast members ID when I go, they just scan their ID and give us our tickets. Since it would be a girls name they could possibly check, unless you go with a girl, of course. However, it they say some ones name on them in specific then it might be just for that person and their guest(s). You might want to just call the park to double check so you don't waste your time.

. besides the ticket prices are cheap right now!!

If you consider $94 cheap, I guess! That would be the value of these, since they are 1-day park-hoppers.

Maybe they are supposed to be used by the Cast Member on two different days?

I was thinking some of the specials they have going..... 5 for 3, 2fer, not just one day....sorry.

My guess is the named party would have to be there to use one & then let a spouse or family member use the other (but used together with the CM)

Yeah that's probably what I'll end up doing. I just thought that maybe someone might have seen or used these same types of tickets before.

It does seem a bit odd to me that Disney wouldn't provide the rules/policies with the tickets when they give them out. Our friend said nothing was said or given to her saying she couldn't give them away. But like I said, they certainly do say "non-transferable" on the top. (But then again, so do the regular tickets that are all pre-printed with the person's name who's credit card was used to buy them.)

Hopefully glendalais or albort will pop in with their info.

If you're just going for the day, if you don't find out the info before you go, you could try and if turned away, no big deal. If you want to use them as part of a bigger trip, well you'll need tickets anyway, right? So you could just see if you can use them, if not, run back to your hotel where you can use a computer, go to the disneyland site, buy the e-tickets online, print them out, and get back to the park, nothing much lost but time.

"In these troubled times" (drink) nothing is really cheap.

But anyway, yes, that is my guess too. I was hoping someone might have something more than a guess though :)

Except almost $200... hey, money is really tight now. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't even consider going, but a friend of mine saw I had these tickets and was like "hey lets go down for 1 day and use them."

I live near San Francisco, so it's not THAT far, but still a long way to drive and be turned away. I've done the 1-day trip down there before when my company was having a corporate event there, it was no big deal, but still, wouldn't do it unless I knew I could get in :)

Ah, SF, that's different. I figured you were more local than that, so you could just go off and do something else if turned away.

I wouldn't want to do it without knowing my tickets were good. It is a very long drive for nothing. LOL

they may simply be stamped with her name so they can see which CMs are giving their tickets away, it may not be anything she would get in trouble for at all. I hope you can use them Alex!

Maybe you can find a southern californian cousin to buy your tickets for you and get you the 3 days for $99 or move to Baja California to get that special, lol. Yes the foreigners get that rate but not Northern Californians.:confused3

Cast Complimentary Tickets are issued to Cast Members and Employees of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies twice per year.

Cast Members and Employees may share these tickets with their friends and family, so long as they are not sold or exchanged for money.

The tickets may be used as the following tickets at the following resorts:
  • 1-Day Park Hopper Ticket, Disneyland Resort
  • One-Day Magic Your Way Base Ticket with Park Hopper, Walt Disney World Resort
  • 1-Day/2-Park Hopper Ticket, Disneyland Paris
  • 1-Day Peak Day Ticket, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Unfortunately, Cast Complimentary Tickets are not valid for admission to the Theme Parks of the Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.

To use a Cast Complimentary Ticket, simply proceed to a Theme Park Main Entrance Turnstyle at any of the above-listed Resorts.

Thanks much for the response, glendalais! I'm so glad to have gotten the real answer, rather that guesses. (My guess was actually that I wouldn't be able to use them, but then I am a bit of a pessimist normally anyway.)

Just to confirm though... they may be used without the named Cast Member being present, correct?

Thanks again! You are super awesome!

Yep, the Cast Member or Employee on the ticket does not have to be present in order to use them.

Thanks again! Now I'm getting a bit choked up thinking that I might actually be able to go, even if for only 1 day. (jeez, mention a trip to Disneyland and I'm like a little kid all of a sudden.) I didn't think I'd be able to make it there this year at all.

If you need anything just PM me and I will see what I can do to help make your trip less expensive like ride from the airport.
I always have an optional fee of one hug, lol.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!

Actually, we'll be driving down just for the day and staying over one night in a cheap hotel. (Anaheim Plaza is my fav for a cheapie... they have a hottub!)

Seems to me that a Sunday would really be the best day to go right now... looks like the hours are similar to fridays/saturdays.

What do y'all think?
