Not sure if this is the right category to ask this, but here goes. i read on another site that you can ask cast members for "Great Service Fanatic" cards. You fill them out and they have their managers sign them and they are entered in a drawing for the Cast Member to win prizes, and it also helps with promotions. Has anyone heard of these? We always have great experiences and would love to be able to thank those special Cast Members (bus drivers, or other Disney folk) that are truly exceptional in their jobs.

Yep, done it many times.
Most recently for a Photopass photographer who works on Main St.

I don't know about that, but if I have a good CM interaction I note their name & where it happened & time/date. I then send an email to Disney about it. They claim to bring it to the attention of the CMs during a weekly meeting or something (not sure if that is true), but I do get a response back from Disney so somebody is reading it (not a standard auto reply either).

Does sending the email get them entered in the drawing or do I need to find these cards?

Yes, and cms greatly appreciate it. You go up to Guest Services in any park and tell them about your experience. Be sure to know the name of the CM, their location, and have a description of what they did. Like, "Jane at Great Movie Ride was a really good cast member because she told us where we could find the characters in the park, gave us great directions to the nearest restaurant and the told us about some great rides that we might have missed." The GS person writes this down on a card, then passes it along to the manager at the attraction. The CM gets the card, and is entered in monthly drawing where they give away things like park stays, electronics (someone I knew got a TV), park merchandise (I got a bunch of ToT stuff), and other Disney things. It's a nice way to really give back, and it does go on our review. Please, whenever you meet a great CM, tell the GS people!

You can stop by Guest Relations to get the card or to leave a note if they are out. If GR or managers feels like the note from the guest is exceptional then they will fill out a 4 Keys Card for the CM and sign it. The 4 Keys Cards are what CMs then turn in. I believe before the 4 Keys Cards were a thing CMs use to just get to enter the Fanatic cards into the drawings but it became clear that some CMs were having regulars give them for things that were not going above and beyond. Four keys can also be given between CMs to recognize going above and beyond.

Not only are these cards put in for drawing they are also logged on the CMs personal file. So it is very important because good and bad goes on those files and if a guest lodges a complaint against a CM who has several 4 Keys Cards the manager might question that guests perception of the event and just have a verbal discuss with the CM to better understand instead of going straight to a formalized meeting.

As a former WDWCM I can tell you that during my time at WDW I always greatly appreciated positive feedback from guests, it always made my day and reminded me why I was there! Not many people take the time to write something nice about a CM so when someone does it is always special and for the most part managers do share it with their CMs. As far as how you can do this, as stated by PP, you can either fill out one of the cards, stop by Guest Relations, or email/send a letter to WDW Guest Communications if it is something extra special. Any compliment that goes to WDW Guest Communications normally gets cascaded down to the CM's area management so they can share with the CM and sometimes may even present an award or special pin to the CM if it is something extra special!! :)

I also did not know this... I sent an email to guest services with the names, dates, and times of our interactions.
BUT, I would have loved to thank the CM playing Donald!!! He (or she) was amazing, best character interaction ever. I wrote about him, gave time, date, and even ADR #, but would have gone to someone had I known this could be done! Do the character handlers have these cards?
I will certainly do this for our next trip!

CMs do not typically carry the cards on them. Also the ones the CMs may have in their area are typically for use between CMs and not guests to CMs. It is always best to just quickly note the time and location if it is a character and then go to Guest Relations at your convenience to leave the note. They may or may not have the fanatic cards available but if they don't they will have you write out what you want to say on a piece of paper and then pass that along.
