Cast Member Cruise discount?

I am a part time cast member at my local Disney Store and I was wondering if anyone knows exactly how the whole discount thing works on the cruise? I talked to a reservations agent on Tuesday and she explained it a little bit but I would like more information.

Just gonna ring in with my two cents since I'm feeling a bit saucy at the moment ;)

I understand completely why CM discounts cannot and should not be discussed specifically on boards such as these. I would never ask for details such as percentages, dates, etc.

But more than once, I've wondered if taking a part-time job at TDS would be worth it to get the discount. I worked at a Hallmark store years ago and several of the women I worked with made no secret of the fact that they worked a couple of shifts a week just to get the discount. However, talking about it once you get the job and talking about it before you even interview are two different things. I sure wouldn't go into a store and ask "What are your discounts for employees and how long do I have to be here before I can take advantage of them?" While many people might think it, they wouldn't say it for fear of not even getting a shot at getting the job.

So, who do you ask these questions of? My questions would be:
1 - are part-time employees eligible for park/cruise discounts?
2 - are seasonal employess eligible for park/cruise discounts?
3 - If yes to the above, how long must one be employeed as a CM and stay employeed as a CM to enjoy the benfits?

But like I said... I'd never dream of phoning up the manager of the local Disney Store and asking. Which is shame, cause I'm sure the benefits would be enough to lure in people in a time when finding people willing to work retail is sometimes hard.

there is certainly nothing wrong with discussing pros and cons of a company, but I do not think it should be public knowledge as to the extent or amount of CM discounts or benefits.

If you worked for any large corporation, would you want everyone to know exactly what you were entitled to, I wouldn't. That is one of the privileges of working for a company, to have exclusivity to the company benefits.

I just don't think this is the forum to discuss CM discounts, plus it is Company Policy not to discuss...END OF STORY.

Hmmmm, as a hiring manager (Not Disney - different company but retail), I HEAVILY use our employee discount as a recruiting tool!

It is against Disney policy to do that. In fact, as far as the cruise goes, CMs are specifically told that they CANNOT discuss the discounts they receive. It is in a signed document and could jeopardize thier job.

I know that some CMs don't mind and will discuss specifics, but most of the CMs that I know prefer to not put their job in jeopardy. So when a CM won't discuss discounts with you, it is because they respect their job. Only management is supposed to relay discount info to prospective new hires.
