Cast Member Confirmed! Contemporary DVC!!!!!!

I'm in WDW right now and just had dinner at California Grill (excellent!)

I was surprised to see how much progress is being made at the "rumored" DVC at Contemporary. After dinner at California Grill, I casually asked one of the servers ..."What is being built over there?"

His response....

"A vacation club"

Yup - that's right. Either he wasn't told that he isn't supposed to tell or Disney has finally acknowledged that they can't keep it a secret any longer!

So hopefully this cast member wasn't just fibbing to me...but sounds like a done deal!

You'll see many posts from people throughout these boards who have heard many a CM say that the DVC @ Contemporary is a done deal. But until an official announcement is made, it's all just speculation and rumor.

But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this rumor becomes a reality because I'm seriously considering an add-on there.

I've been following the threads of others saying that they've heard Contemporary DVC was in the works...but I didn't really believe it until I heard it myself!

We've been discussing an add-on...Contemporary may be it!

He wasn't fibbing to you, but he wasn't telling you anything official. He thinks it's a DVC because she read the Orlando paper. Or because she reads internet message boards.

There's a handful of folks that know for 100% certain, and they aren't telling anyone. Not the bus drivers, and not the waiters. When those folks tell you something, it's no more or less official than a DIS poster telling you something.

And, you know what? It's a DVC.

When we did the Keys to the Kingdom last year I asked the guide and he said, "It's not DVC" while nodding. Some CM's like "spilling" it.

The thing I have been thinking about lately was when the person found the original plans on the architect's web site! Remember that!!!!??? I still crack up when I think of how that was alllll over the boards like wildfire and very quickly taken off the architect's site! Think it was deliberate?

Yes, when we did the Fort Wilderness Segway tour last fall, the guides joked that the construction was the building that was NOT going to be DVC.. and they did the little head nod too.

Unless the CM was Jim Lewis or Bob Igor it's not confirmed it's a CM rumor LOL!

(Yes, it's going to happen but Bus Drivers, Wait staff, CRO etc are NOT the "official word" and DISNEY does not tell them anthing just because they KNOW they can't keep thier mouths shut! LOL! WDW is just like any other office, it's a giant rumor mill!)

I don't see any posts debating whether it will be DVC or not--the question is whether comments from a waiter can be construed as an official announcement. The answer, obviously, is no.

We asked in May, some of the help said Yes, some said "my lips are sealed" then smiled. No one said "No." It's so large, it has to be. JMHO.

Office rumors?
Our bus driver yesterday was like the office gossip.
"They're building a new DVC at the Contemporary." "They are also building a new Downtown Disney-type area near the AKL"
"The Carousels at SSR are named after Walt's favorite ride"

She had a few others, but I can't recall all of them right now.

dtd type - think she is talking about the mall at Western way - that is not AKL - it is much closer to CsR.

the rumors have been going since 2001. but until Disney says it is a DVC and sales start. It is still just a rumor.

worst case - they say it is CR suites - but hey that is my nightmare.

these things have kitchens - suites do not!
