I was wondering what the clubs are like. They're mentioned on the CP website, but I haven't heard anything else about them. I'm mainly interested in the STAGE one, but info on the others is certainly welcome!

STAGE has auditions that are open for all CMs, including CPs! You can just attend the audition if you're interested in performing, or there is an e-mail you can contact if your interested in tech work. They also need volunteers to usher (I volunteer for that - Free show!). They perform in different theaters around the property.

Encore is the singing group... they just posted auditions for their summer concert (within the month). I do not recall there being any concerts durng the fall program.

There is all kinds of information about the clubs on the company portal that you'll get access to once you start!

Good topic. There's several clubs in that list I'd be interested in, but so many I know I wouldn't have the time for all. Narrowing it down to 2, I'd like to be in the STAGE club or the LBV Model Railroaders Club. Anyone know more about the Model Railroad club?

Thanks so much for quickly responding to my question about the STAGE club. What kind of shows do they do? Are they good?

PS- I really enjoy your blog

I can't wait to join STAGE it will be so amazing! I am such a theatre geek! My jazz and character shoes are all packed! I also can't wait for the authors round table and B.E.A.T.

Cast Clubs are maintained by the Clubs and Instructional Programs section of Cast Activities, Events & Recognition, a department with the Human Resources division of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Just a note, many of these clubs are more focused towards those who work in the offices, both Salaried and Hourly Office & Technical, as opposed to those who work in the Parks and Resorts. This is reflected in the times and locations of their meetings, which tend to be held during the lunch hours at places such as Team Disney Orlando (next to Downtown Disney), and the various Walt Disney World Resort office buildings located across Disney property and in Celebration. However, some do have meetings in the Parks.

Here's a listing of the clubs currently organized, as well as some brief information on each. I think that several clubs have disbanded, as they're no longer listed on the updated list that I'm looking at, yet are still listed on the site maintained by College Recruiting (whom I assume hasn't gotten around to updating yet).

Crosstalk Christian Fellowship
"Crosstalk exists to encourage Cast Members to put Jesus Christ first in their life, while equipping them to be salt and light in their world."

Diabetes Insulin Pump Support Group
"This group is designed for Cast Members, their family and friends living with diabetes and using an insulin pump."

ENCORE! Cast Choir and Orchestra
"If you have a passion for music, and you play an instrument or sing – then ENCORE! is the Cast Club for you."

Check out their public website here: ENCORE!

H.E.A.R.S.
"H.E.A.R.S. (Hearing, Education, Advocacy, Resources and Success) is a local chapter of S.H.H.H. (Self Help for Hard of Hearing People). Programs that benefit children, parents, or friends who are hard of hearing are presented monthly. "

LBV Sports Club
The WDW Sports Club, the Lake Buena Vista Sports Club exists to develop a sense of camaderie and encourage physical activity by WDW Cast Members in Central Florida.

LEAGUE
"LEAGUE (Lesbian And Gay United Employees) at Lake Buena Vista is a social, service, and resource club primarily for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, providing a positive environment through events, activities, and community service."

Magic Riders Motorcycle Club
"It is our desire at the Magic Riders Club to provide an environment in which Cast Members and their dependents whom have a passion for being on two wheels can be part of a first-class organization made up of great people with an aspiration for helping others in need. "

S.T.A.G.E.
"A fun and creative learning atmosphere that provides theater and performing arts experience by offering on stage, backstage, and audience opportunities while providing entertainment for the Walt Disney World Cast Member Community."

Check out their public site: S.T.A.G.E..

Toastmasters
"Toastmasters International (TI) is a nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills."

The WDW Clubs are open to Cast Members only.

Wheelers and Dealers
A Pin Trading advocacy club. This club is actually based out of the Disney Reservation Centre in Tampa, Fla.. As such, it is unlikely that you will ever encounter it.

I see. Well have any past/current CPs here been in these clubs? What was your experience like? And I didn't see the model railroad club in that list you posted, so I take it it's disbanded? :( Is the layout still hanging around somewhere because I'd still like to see it at least. Oh well...

I want to join the:

Computer Club
Cast Members in this club explore computer subjects such as multimedia digital images, word processing, animation, e-mail, Internet, computer art and photography, financial planning, and other information.

Being I'm a nerd and everything lmao

Also I want to join the Channel HTM- Housing The Magic TV show thing. I'd love to work in the editing room!

I'm fairly sure they've disbanded, as it's no longer on the list I'm looking at.

Looking at it, I can't help but think that Channel HTM is edited by the Professional Interns statused to CP Operations. It's not so much a club as it is a part of their work duties.

To mimic what was already said... I was unable to audition for STAGE because they rehearse in the evening and with my schedule being so random I was unable to make the commitment.

Glad you like the blog!!

Nooo!

On the other hand, its a good reason to go again in the future with a Professional Internship ;)

As I feared. While it does seem pretty interesting, I fear the schedule will be in conflict. Oh well.

While not a club per se, if anyone is interested in putting together a short film while we're down there, let me know. Idk about what, but we could think of something short and feasible.

If you're looking for a Cast Activity to get involved in, why not consider the Canoe Races of the World (CROW)

A brief history....

The first Cast Member Canoe Races were held at Disneyland in 1963 using the canoes from the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes attraction.

The event, which is still held at the Disneyland Resort today, quickly proved to be very popular with the Cast, and was brought over to the Walt Disney World Resort two years after it opened in 1973, using the Canoes from the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes attraction at the Magic Kingdom Park.

Even though the Explorer Canoes attraction was closed in 1994, the Canoe Races of the World are still held yearly. Indeed, the tradition has expanded, and is now a Cast Member Tradition at every Disney Resort site worldwide.

This year's races will be held in July. The races themselves are held in the early morning hours at the Magic Kingdom Park, and consist of a Canoe Race around Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland. More information will be available from Cast Activities as the date approaches. All Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members, including College Program participants are invited to attend and participate in this unique Walt Disney Parks & Resorts tradition.

I'd want to do that for fun than racing, my arms are so out of shape (like the rest of my body) I'd want to get my arms in shape and lose this arm flab - ICK

Well...unfortunately I don't come until August. But that does sound really fun! They don't do it any other time of the year?

Sounds great! What editing software do you use? Although I love editing too, I can take on whatever. I can do directing, acting, editing, and CGI. I also have my own greenscreen in my garage but its too big and bulky to bring to WDW. Bringing that would just be....torture :rotfl: I would just recommend doing something simple that we can film on any day off, as not to create stress on ourselves. Then when its done, we can have a little screening party :happytv:

You can see some of my stuff here. I'm in post-production right now for a big Viking movie.

I have Adobe Premiere and After Effects (and 3d max, Windows Media *for the simple stuff*, and photoshop for creating things.

BRING THE GREEN SCREEN! I love Green Screen, I'm juts lacking one and a camera. But I have all the software!

Like I said, to even move the green screen is torture! Its 2 of these huge 4x8 pieces of board that are heavy, bulky, and painted chroma green. There's no way I can bring them....unless....I become an Egyptian Pharaoh and order all my slaves to drag them to WDW! :darth: Bwuahahahaha! :rotfl: Anyway...Adobe Premiere is good. I've used it a few times, some years back. I use Sony Vegas Pro8 mostly, and FinalCut Pro when I'm at school. I've never used After Effects, but I've seen the stuff done with that and it looks awesome. As for a camera, all I can bring is my camcorder, which has no external mic input. I've been spoiled by my professor who lends out all his fancy pro equipment to students. Unfortunately, I can't take the stuff to WDW. We can use my camera if nobody brings a better one. I'll bring a tripod too. I have a mic we can attach to a computer, in case you want to do a narration with really good audio.
