We have been caught out by the cashless tolls before but we can't remember where was. We don't want a sunpass as we will only be driving locally with kissemee once we are there.

Can anyone tell us If we can get from the airport to Emerald island (off the 192) without going through a cashless toll.

Also I seem to remember one about celebration can we get there from the 192 and avoid it. The other places we will go are Disney. universal, maybe a mall (although I am trying to talk dd's 21 and 17 out of that-whats my chances? :rotfl2:).

The only cashless tolls that I know of are on the Turnpike.

We got caught out when in Tampa a couple of years ago, as there are express lanes there which are also cashless and we inadvertently ended up in the express lane on the way to Busch Gardens one morning. Ended up paying a hefty admin charge to Dollar on that one so if we are venturing outside of Orlando now, we tend to set the SatNav to avoid all tolls.

Never knew there were any tolls(cash or cashless) around Busch. You live and learn.

It was when we were staying in Bradenton and went up to Tampa from there - think it's called the Selmon Expressway and only attracts a toll during rush hours. We just ended up on it without even realising :sad2:

we done the same thing just outside tampa but we phoned a number our hotel gave us and they just took the reg and said not to worry- we never heard anything else again (luckily).

We also went through one near celebration , but I am not sure if we just were in the wrong queue (it was very late and no-one was about to help us-we were lost so couldn't even phone to do anything as we weren't sure where we were- there were no envelopes left at the booth (you can usually take them and get a postal order done to pay after the fact) we ignored it and never heard anything but as we have gotten away twice I fear it may be 3rd time unlucky- thus want to make sure we don't do it on our next trip).

There are some on route between orlando and west palm beach we ended up pulling into a gas station to buy the sunpass on that trip.

We came across one back in 2009.

We were terribly lost getting back from Universal to ASMu and one exit we wanted to use was cashless - to be fair it was probably only used by locals but I was desperate to get off the main route. We drove on to the next exit where we could pay. It wasn't too bad in hindsight but at the time it was the journey from hell. Goodness knows what preference DH had programmed into the satnav.

We got caught on the sunpass toll just outside of the airport what should have been$1.25 cost us $30 when we got home that was about 5 years ago we look out for it now

does this one still takes cash as long as I go in the correct lane?

Hi,
We never use cash tolls anymore as we use Hertz plate pass system detailed below. It is obviously more expensive than cash but so much more convenient, and as we usually use the Turnpike to visit Vero Beach which is cashless we would have to use it anyway.
Fee: Hertz customers will pay a service fee of $2.50 per rental day, including any days when customers do not use PlatePass®, plus the posted cash toll rate for any incurred tolls. The maximum service charge (excluding tolls) is $10.00 per month. After the rental car is returned, your credit card will be charged separately for the posted cash toll rate for the tolls used (as opposed to any discounted electronic toll rate) and the applicable service fee. Charges will appear on your credit card by PlatePass®. You will receive an itemized listing of all tolls and charges by mail

Seems to be a lot of mis-information on Hertz Tollpass.
I used it for the first time last year. as we arrived in Miami, I was charged $24.75 + tolls. Cost me just under $30 for 4 tolls. Would have been better avoiding the Cashless road and paying cash at the others.

Hertz own site says $14.75 or $2.95/day https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/productservice/index.jsp?targetPage=USplatepass.jsp

When I questioned it they said the $14.75 shown was old info and not yet been updated (still the same since our trip last Easter)

Many sites/forums with others having issues like this.

I really like Hertz but wouldn't use their Platepass again.

There is NO toll point FROM EMERALD ISLE end of 192 to Celebration

From Emerald Isle join 192 & TURN RIGHT ( Straight on goes to Animal Kingdom ).... Then Turn RIGHT

at the Traffic Lights into Celebration ... Just take care after that

and you will end up at Market place , or thereabouts , in Celebration

Take care on the way out .... just follow directions to 192.

There are NO Toll points on I 4 so you are safe for Universal .& Seaworld

There IS A TOLL POINT on The OSCEOLA Parkway heading towards

Hwy 17 92 the OBT which leads to Florida Mall

no toll from WDW to Clearwater
but you do say "back to MCO", there are 2 tolls on 528 just before MCO (both ways) and both toll plazas have cash & change lanes

Thanks guys... I thought that was the case....
Yes we are using DME from MCO & collecting car offsite next day, so just back to MCO from Clearwater...
