For our trip in January 10-17 we have a studio at SSR for all but one nite, the 15th. My TA made a reservation for cash that nite.

Why is available for cash and not to a member for points? I have to pay double what the points would cost for the one nite. If I had the TA cancel and the member call at the same time, could it then be open and I could buy more points?

Thanks for the help. I am just trying to understand and save money. I don't want to have to move for one nite but over $200 for one nite......Goodnite!!!

There's always a certain percentage of DVC villas held for ressies through CRO. I'm sure someone can post the legalities of it, but I'm not sure what they are. Anyway, has the member you are renting from requested a waitlist for the night you still need? You might be able to do it that way. Also, do you have any idea when you will be closing on your own points? The reason I ask is because you can normally get a discount on rooms you are paying cash for by booking through Member Services. Don't know if it's better than what the TA was able to do...but maybe the member you are working with can call and ask.

Cash inventory and points inventory are seperate.

When a member trades out (and there are other ways it happens as well - developer inventory), DVC pays for that trade by turning the room over to CRO.

So the room you are getting is being "virtually" occupied by someone who maybe used their points to cruise in October.

calypso*a*go-go, the guy I rented from is in Disney now and won't be back for about a week. I sure do hope he keeps checking on the waitlist for me. I really am having a problem with paying so much for one nite. I would honestly move to save over $100. Ok, I am cheap! But this entire trip has been a mess and I just want to be in Disney with my son and watch him have fun!

I think my TA used my AP discount but is still quoting me about $225 for the nite of the 15th. Is that just crazy?

Well, wish me luck, April

Wow, you got a discounted price, too.
