I'm trying to figure out how much cash to bring. I'm planning on using the charge card for dinners. Can I use the charge for smaller lunches, like for several salads, at places like Pinocchio's Haus at MK or any of the counter service places at the parks?

Thanks!

You can basically use your room charge for everything. Although I have never charged a water or ice cream at a snack cart...but lunches...sure!

I can't tell if you mean room charge or regular credit card, but neither should be a problem.

We are a family of 4 - we plan $60 for a counter service meal
Sometime we hit the mark - most times it's less, but lets figure...

Cosmic Rays - MK
3 adult cheeseburgers with fries $24
1 child chicken nugget with fries $5 (includes a drink)
3 drinks $6
4 Mickey Ice Cream's from a nearby cart $10
TOTAL = $45 (plus tax)

Seasons - The Land - EPCOT
2 Asian entrees $20
1 ham sandwhich $8
1 child chicken leg meal $4
4 drinks $10
4 Edy's ice creams $12
TOTAL = $54 (plus tax)

I would rather over estimate than under. :thumbsup2

Check out the menu's on Deb Will's website and see what your average total would be for your family. :surfweb:

Most childrens meals are $5 - but may not include the drink- add another $2.
Most adult entrees are $10 or less, plus drink - add another $2
Mickey ice cream bar is $2.50 (unless the price has gone up - not sure)
Most desserts at counter service range from $2 to $5

We charge everything. For us, don't have to worry about having to lug cash around-like going as light as possible in the parks. We do pay cash for the little things like ice cream, etc., but everything just gets charged. If concerned, you can pay it all of upon check out and can even throughout your stay, check your room charges to keep ontop of the charges and money spent.

I used my debit card cause I felt safer with that then carrying around cash.

I brought $40 in cash for ice cream and jsut sodas and stuff like that. The $40 lasted me almost the whole 7 days for snacks=.

Almost all locations take credit cards (all fixed and some carts). In spite of that, you should carry $2,000 (prefer in small, non-sequentially numbered bills). It is also, critical that you post on here just before you head to the parks, noting which park you will be entering and that you wear a bright orange shirt labeled "Mark" in bright blue letters.......

Can you charge items to your room if you are staying at the Swan/Dolphin? I don't remember if I've seen it mentioned....

I am going in October and I plan on bringing $100 a day for everything. This is just for my son and me. Food, gifts, mickey bars. Actually, with the Mickey bars, better make it $120 a day :thumbsup2

You can charge almost everything--on our last trip, even most of the snack carts were set up to take charges. I carry little or no cash to the parks--if I choose to carry none, we just don't use anyplace that won't take a charge.

For convenience, I do it as a room charge (one charge to my credit card at the end), but it doesn't make any difference to WDW. I'd just hate to see a zillion $2.50 charges on my statement.

Also, by charging (whether to my room which is paid off by my Disney Visa or directly to Disney Visa), I'm collecting those reward $ for the next trip.
