do we have blackout dates like AP holders for the discount we get on rooms? i assume yes but was just double checking since MS is closed for the day. Thanks! and it's 25% correct if available across all categories?

thanks!

The discount is not always available and I assume it is not every room type at every resort either.

I got a follow up question. Is the discount for only villa's? Or regular resorts and rooms too. Ms told me villa's only. Why did I think it could be for any resort? Or am I thinking my ap discount?

The only time we considered using our DVC room discount it was only for villas (not sure if that is always true). You might be confusing it with your AP room rates.

Yes, the 25% DVC member discount is only on villas. It's offered as a last resort to fill rooms during slower periods when members do not historically book all rooms using points. You typically will not be offered the 25% discount for resorts/dates/room sizes when rooms are not available for booking using points.

Discounts on other Disney hotel rooms are often available to Passholders.

Thanks guys. Ya I was confusing them. Our neighbors want to go with us next April so was trying to cover all their bases for rates so they k ow which path is the best for them. Renting points appears the best route. Which I figured but I didn't want them to be able to say "if we did it this way it would have been less". I'm also going to tell them to price it out on their own. We r going the sat of Easter and that week so I would assume no room discounts for us ap holders that week also.

In the past, the member had to be staying in the discounted cash room through DVC.

I will say, the member price can vary interestingly from normal cash rates. I have a cash booking at Aulani 12/29 - 1/2 as I couldn't get points rooms during those times.

The rates were very close to retail, but "slightly" less. On 1/1, while retail rates go up, my rate went down (likely a discount applied).

I clearly wasn't getting a 25% discount, or even 5%, but it was a bit less. Not sure how that works.

YMMV, never hurts to call and ask before booking cash if you need to.
