We would like to invite family to join us on our oct trip. We have a Studio already reserved for 4 nights on points and would like to add another 1 BR for those same 4 nights to our ressie using DVC cash disc (if avail). Is this allowed? I thought I had read here on the boards somewhere that the member MUST stay in a cash disc room. I would like to know before I call MS so I dont sound like a complete fool.
What if we were to upgrade to a 1BR using 1/2 points and 1/2 member disc? Could we still add another 1BR using member disc? I couldnt find anything about this in the member guidebook. Hope someone can help. Thanks

The member must be staying in the cash room. You could register yourself in the 1 bedroom and your guests in the studio.

You could only do 1/2 points and 1/2 cash if you book some nights points, some nights cash. You can't split a night.

Also lookout for AP or code rates, they are sometimes better than the member discount and then you wouldn't have an issue with who is in what room.

What is the DVC member cash room discount...just a "guesstimation" will be fine.

When available, it is 25% off the rack rate.

MS offers the discount only when it projects that not all of the rooms available for points will be reserved for points.

Best wishes -

I just made my first ressie with my DVC membership for November, and I also did not know about a cash discount for rooms. My parents will be going as well, if I make a reservation for them with a cash discount, can it be at the same hotel with a different size room? In other words, i have a one-bedroom at OKW, can i make a studio res. for less nights at the same hotel??

To get the cash discount, the DVC membr must be staying/registed in the discounted room.

So if I register myself in the cash room, and my parents in my points room would that work? Would it also be in the Villas? We would like to be in the same area of the hotel.

You could make a member cash reservation (if available) but you will have to register as being the person staying in this room. The stated policy is that the member must be physically staying in a villa that has been rented with the member cash discount. The member discount is only applicable to DVC resorts. We don't get a discount at non-DVC resorts at WDW.

Just an FYI to everyone, when you use the member cash discount, housekeeping is the same as if you are staying on points.

So then, if we only get a discount in the DVC rooms, what is the "rack rate" that you mentioned, or where can I find it? I was not aware that the DVC rooms were available for cash reservations at all.

If you add member cash nights to your points stay, they will treat it all as one stay, you don't have to checkout and check back in. Housekeeping schedule is based on the entire stay (trash & towel day 4, etc).

If you add a CRO reservation to your points nights, then you have to checkout and check back in. But you will get housekeeping on your cash nights.
