when you look at the cash rental rates, at the DVC resorts, to try to guage, how much your dvc points, are worth versus cash rental rates.

Is it accurate, to look at the rack rates, on the disneyworld, website and add 11% tourism tax
or is it more often,
rack rates x 25% discount, x 11% TOURISM Tax.

do people actually pay the cash rental rates, at DVC Resorts

or does WDW, just show them and them discount them at least 25% on regular basis.

I am referring mainly to OKW-2&2 and GV
and BCV-2&2.

I know that we sometimes can get a 25% cash discount, off rack rates, plus 11% tourism tax

but, them sometimes. I wonder, if that is really no big deal, because any consumer, can get that rental rate. Thank you.

First, the tax rate is now 11.5%. (Another cost that is not fixed.)

It's hard to say what the majority of the public is paying. After 9/11/01, the discounts became much deeper and more available than had previously been the case. I think things are now starting to improve and the days of the 40% discount are probably gone. I think 25% is probably the deepest discount to use for comparison. Of course, time of year and type of accomodation also plays into it as well. Pre-9/11, a discount during Christmas Week was unheard of.

I'm not sure whether the GV is available at a discount on a regular basis. You might try looking at the various "code" listings and/or posting on the Resort Board and checking responses. In any case, the discount is something that you have to wait for and be aware of. If you contact Disney for a future reservation you will most likely be quoted the rack rate or close to it.

So, do people pay rack rate? Yes, I believe that many of them probably do.

I know we sure payed rate rate in our early days of just calling the local travel agent. I could have paid for our two DVC contracts with just the first three rack rate trips to the BC, WL & CR. ouch!

I used the DVC member cash rate for a Friday & Saturday night last May. It was $321 per night, incl tax, OKW 1 bedroom. Points would have been 48 per night, so I figured it came out to $6.69 per point.

I used both the rack rate and the discount - I had a Disney club card so I used that discount - 25% to 40% - depending upon what was offered.

I would always search down great bargains. I think AP and Florida resident discounts are the best.

Most people who travel to WDW, I think pay rack rate (with the exception of the recent FTP)

I just don't think most people who travel there think it can be affordable and blow lots of money and go there just a couple of times in their lives and that's it.
