cash/points reservations

We are new members and are a little confused on paying cash and using points for one trip. If we use points for Sun to Thursday and pay cash for the weekend, will the reservation be one and the same or will there be 2 reservations with a possible mix up at check-in? Thanks for any info...

If it's reserved thru MS, it will be treated as all one linked reservation and you'll have the same room. If you book the cash nights thru CRO, you'll have to ask to have them linked together (a request- not guaranteed) and you will have to get new keys for the cash reservation - even if you can stay in the same room. It's also possible you'd have to move if reserved thru CRO.

When possible, reserve the whole thing thru MS. Sometimes you can find a better rate thru CRO though- so do your homework.

You will have 2 reservations. If you book the cash portion with MS (NOT CRO) make sure they LINK the two reservations. Sometimes with CRO reservations you can have them note you also have a reservation with points, and let MS know of your CRO reservation. Either way, when you check in, explain what you have to the CM at the desk. They will work with you to keep you in the same unit.

Doc beat me. When did MS start make one reservation with points and cash? I have always gotten 2 seperate reservations. We also had to re-check in about half the time. A GOOD change.

I did a combo MS points/cash reservation last year. Friday & Sat with the 25% member discount and then points Sun-Thurs nights. I did have 2 reservations (made months apart) but when I checked in on Friday, they both were treated as one. I got key cards and a parking pass for the entire 7 nights. Monday was trash & towel, day 4 of the combined stay.

This year, I had a points reservation for Sunday to Thursday, I decided to add Friday night. I got a AP rate for 30% off through CRO, noted the other reservation # on both reservations. At check-in on Sunday, I only got room keys & parking permit until Friday. On Friday morning, I had to go to the front desk and get a key and parking pass for Friday night. My pass for Friday said "guest parking permit" rather than "member parking permit". I had to pay 75 cents for local calls on Friday night (rather than the 35 cent member rate). On the good side, we got full housekeeping on Friday. No problem keeping the same room.

Both times were OKW 1 bedrooms.
