Cash or charge tips on DDP?

For TS dinners, if you order exactly what's included on the DDP, your bill will be $0. Can I leave just cash tips or is it best to charge it to our room? I know servers usually like cash tips.

You are gonna need a lot of cash if you go the cash route. I am pretty sure I spent close to $1,000 in tips on one of my trips between all of our table service restaurants. That’s a lot of cash to be carrying around and dealing with.

You can use either. One note, if your group is 6 people or more, tips are already added to your final bill. There was more than once that I double tipped before I realized this as normally our table is only 2 people.

Wow knowing Disney prices that was a pretty penny. The tips can easily approach and exceed $100 with groups of 6 depending on ages and place

What do you mean? Are you asking if you would not be counted as a party of 7 and have the auto grat?

I understood the question as “How are we billed for the auto grat?” and I assume they would get a receipt showing any dining credits used and then a line item for the auto grat, with the total due at the bottom. I don’t think they were questioning whether they qualified for the auto grat since everyone three and older should be counted in the “six or more”.

If using the dining plan you should get a receipt for the tips due, and you can pay that by cash, credit card, or if staying on property you can charge back to your room account.

If not using the dining plan, it will be a line item near the bottom of the receipt and included in the grand total. Then you would pay it as part of the bill total, using your payment option of choice.

I took a gift card with $500 on it..... just for tips. I used all of it!!

I waited tables for years and tend to lean toward tipping on the high side of the scale so always plan extra for gratuities. Even as a waiter, I’ve never been a fan of the auto-gratuity for larger parties. I understand the reasoning behind the concept but have never been happy with having my tip amount decided for a table or on the other side, being “forced” to tip, regardless of the level of service received.
