Cash for Tips/Gratuities?

No no need, you will most likely charge all your tips or have them charged to your stateroom account, room service traditionally is a small cash tip but you can still charge those as well if you wish. Small amounts for Porters if used as well.

I prepay my standard tips so I do not have to worry about them on the cruise, sometimes i add a note or two, I only take $$ in notes for room service.

Good site.

How about cash tips for excursions? Is it customary to tip the guides/bus drivers, etc?

As others have replied, we too carry $$$$$ to cover tips for baggage handlers, bus drivers, and for room service while on board the ship.

Yes you can, small amounts welcome.

Thanks - so can I assume that no one is expecting tipping in the 20% range of the cost of the excursion? That would be a hefty addition to my budget considering almost everything we are planning is at least almost 200$ pp.
When we book extras at the parks I always tip 20% but that covers the whole family. I know these folks work hard and depend on the summer business to survive, but I feel the prices of the excursions are already pretty pricey.
I know this is a personal decision, but I am curious what others do?

Generally(per person), $1-$2 for drivers, $5 for guide (1/2 day tour) $10 for guide (full day tour). OR whatever you feel the services were worth to you. There is no "correct" amount.

Not if I should, but what the customary amount would be.
Unfortunately, as with all gratuities, it's really up to you what you feel the service was worth to you. It's been reported that people tip anywhere from (per person) $5 to $100. And some people don't tip at all.

Thank you Princess Shmoo that is also a helpful guideline - well within my norm - giving me leeway for extra. I am busy making lists! lol

Thanks for the info.!

For our 4-night Dream last year, I took a $50 strap of singles. I tipped the terminal porters separately from this. We used it for room service (left it in an envelope in the drawer so that we all had access), drivers for our excursion (2 ppl each way), bell services at the hotel (stayed at Universal prior to cruise). I ended up with a few dollars left over. I am going to get more singles, as well as fives, for our 7-night Fantasy cruise this summer for general tipping. I will also make sure I have appropriate cash for Palo tip, terminal porter tips and trinkets at the ports.

In Palo we always tip $25 and usually tip excursion guides 5 to 10 for 4 of us depending on service and 2 for driver.
