Casey's Buns

Its been my experience that the birds have always stolen the hot dogs. Now,the birds don't even want the wheat buns......so they poop on them. :lmao:

See, this is Disney's way of getting rid of seagulls! Something even the birds don't want...

THEY CALLED!!!!!!!

I can't believe they actually called internationally to speak to me!

Anyway, he explained in detail the situation. They will not be offering a choice. You are getting a white bun that has been "enhanced" with wheat flour for health reasons. So, for those who were wondering, that is the official answer. He said they have received very few complaints out of the thousands of buns they have served, so this is what we will get from now on. Enjoy.

Seriously, "enhanced" - what the heck does THAT mean?! I'm Googling...

We generally use our DP CS options for a burger or a hotdog from Casey's. I'm really going to have to think about keeping the DP for our trip. This really bites. The least they could do, is offer people a choice.

You don't have the option on the DP to feed your kids a burger at Pecos Bill's and now you being forced to feed them a hard, dry bun with the burger that you just had to pay OOP for! I thought the idea was to keep people on Disney property. If I can't use my DP credits and enjoy them, why buy the DP.

Before anyone say's anything...I know the DP doesn't work for everyone! But, it's always worked for our family in the past. Why keep messing with it?!

I'm not sure with this being a family-oriented website that I can state what I generally think of when I hear the word "enhanced".

:rolleyes1

:lmao:

Well folks I seem to have stumped Google for once - I got nothing on "enhanced white buns wheat". Sounds an awful lot like "We'll add some brown flecks and coloring and call it 'wheat' - people will think they're eating helathier and we can raise the price!" to me.

Yeah, that is what I thought. The only thing I can suggest is for everyone to keep calling or sending e-mails. He indicated that since there were so few complaints, everyone was satisfied with the change.

What a misconception. I rarely if ever would complain to a manager or whomever about something like this in a restaurant. My action for something a restaurant does or changes that I don't like is to no longer frequent that establishment. But, I guess since I didn't complain to anyone about it, by the reasoning above, I left a satisfied customer.

I would guess that they'll gauge customer satisfaction not only by number of complaints, but by total sales. If sales drop, then customers are expressing their dissatisfaction in a way that affects Disney's bottom line.

I am not saying to NOT call, but I am saying that if you really don't like it don't buy it. If you say you're upset and still buy it, what is Disney's motivation to change?

So I guess when I get to the MK on Sun I'll just go in and tell them I'm going to need to see and/or feel some buns before I decide whether to eat at Casey's or not.:rotfl:

I do not think it would be appropriate to look at Casey's buns much less feel them........especially in public!! :rolleyes1

Just let them know that you need to see/feel their buns for enhancements. :)

My DH's co worker just returned from WDW this weekend and said the buns at Casey's were soft, white buns. He said they were to big for the hot dogs, but defnitely not wheat.

That is what happened to us last year (the bun was like an inch bigger than the hot dog!) You'd think they could match them.

But at least it was white. :)

I'm personally fine with them changing over to wheat, I prefer it over white bread anyways.

Does anyone have pictures of these buns? I haven't read the whole thread, mind you.

I think that the best way to influence the bun choice at WDW would not be calling and complaining, or even by not visiting - but by ordering the beloved Casey's hotdog - taking 1 bite - and then demanding your money back because of the yucky inedible bun. If enough of us do that - then buns will be back to normal in no time.

And I will add to the list of people who eat 100% Whole Wheat bread with no sugar at home. When I am on vacation - I want my white bread - besides this "enhanced" wheat bread can not be more healthy than white bread. It just doesn't taste as good

I think you might be right! That would definitely get their attention.

We are not anti-wheat bread by any means. I think wheat bread is best on certain things and burgers and dogs are not it!

I think most people watch what they eat during the rest of the year, but when they're on vacation, not so much. That's my down time.

I think Disney is taking the fun out of vacation for a lot of people.

Another uppdate from DH's co worker.

He had a pulled pork sandwich from Cosmic Ray's...I think that's where he said...and it was definitely wheat. I'm confused.:confused3:

I ate at Casey's twice last week--Monday and Saturday. Both days were fake wheat buns. By that I mean they were still enriched flour bread. The second time I asked and was told that they keep switching back and forth. The young man went on to say that he thought they were trying to make the hot dogs healthy and then he just cracked up laughing. They taste fine, but the buns don't hold together very well and they are pretty thin. Not near as much bread as the regular old white ones.
