Casey's Buns

Other than the look of the buns, I personally did not notice any difference in taste while I was being force-fed all that food in Disney.

Sorry folks, but if Disney is trying to make their food even a tiny bit healthier (I am not saying that they did!), they're certainly not FORCING it on you. Make another selection!

We used to eat at Tony's in the Magic Kingdom fairly often...then they changed the menu and took off some of the things we liked. I didn't complain...I just don't go there anymore. Same story with these rolls. If you don't like them, make another choice!
The message that I got from the CM today stated that they are changing ALL buns to wheat. So, we can't make another selection. There isn't one.

Actually, I think this is a very constructive and informativethread. We see something, we are not happy about it and we are going through the proper methods to bring it to the attention of the TPTB at WDW. Why would that "crack you up" :confused3

Disney can change it's mind if enough people contact them (and I will be as well).

Tricia, I do see your point, but I suppose I just see things such as wheat buns with hot dogs and Diet Cokes with Big Macs as band-aids; yes, fewer calories, less sugar in some cases, etc., but still the hot dog and Big Mac remain unhealthy meal options. You're better off with the diet drink or the wheat bread (if it's the good kind of wheat bread), but the main part of the meal (the dog or the Big Mac) remains the same. But that is just my opinion.

I know some others here think those of us bugged by the changes are being silly, but I can't help the way I feel. I love to get 1 or 2 hot dogs on vacation and a burger. Now, I can get neither in May if it's on wheat bread (unless I order them without any bread) unless I want to be physically sick. Again, it's great to have healthy options, but there is no option in this if you like hot dogs or burgers. It's either wheat bread or nothing. I simply don't appreciate WDW trying to push this down my throat (pun intended ;) ). I'm thin, in shape, and eat incredibly healthy almost every day of the year; and yet Disney feels the need to require me to eat wheat bread if I want a simple burger or hot dog (not breadless). To me, that's just plain irritating.

I'd love to know the person responsible for this decision and how they came to the conclusion that this switch would be a good idea. Save the wheat bread for some health conscious veggie burger, tunafish sandwich or some other healthy sandwich.

When I'm eating a burger or a dog I want it on a white roll.

PS I also just fired off an email about this.

The wheat bun isn't even healthy. If I had a choice of a not-really healthy wheat or a not-really healthy white, I want the white!

At the very least, there should be an option. There isn't even a reason for the switch, because the wheat is probably no healthier than the white.

Have these folks ever been to a grocery store? Go down the bread aisle and look at the buns, especially the hot dog buns. You have to look pretty hard to find wheat buns. There's a reason for that, the vast majority of people like white buns, plain and simple. I've never seen a wheat hot dog bun at a ballpark, not even in health conscious California. I find it hard to believe that people saying it's great that they are going a more healthy route really think that someone worried about eating healthy is going to order a hot dog.

Yes, I am having a tiff over the bun change. I like my doggies, and burgers on white bread!

Also, what about the people allergic to wheat bread?

Hold up...if anyone is allergic to wheat bread, they are also allergic to white bread.

^I agree, but some of us, like myself, get physically ill after eating wheat bread. Nothing to do with allergies, it just literally makes me sick. I can handle some types of wheat bread with ham, but nothing else.

Ummmmmm.........it's all wheat bread......if you are allergic to wheat you can't eat white buns either. Flour is made of wheat even if it is bleached white flour. :confused3

:thumbsup2

Thanks, thought I was going nuts for a bit there. My brother has some allergies with wheat, and I was thinking he basically doesn't eat any bread anymore.

Cool, dh will be thrilled he can have a wheat bun hot dog there. Are they all-beef? Does anyone know? We are not white bread eaters so this is a great thing for our family. Sorry for those of you who like the bleached stuff! :rotfl:

I agree with you...this probably isn't a WHOLE wheat bun. That said, dh can't stand the look or taste of white bread. He says there really is a difference. As for myself, I won't eat white OR "fake" wheat, but it doesn't matter since I will never eat a (meat) hot dog, either. :rotfl:

Now, if they offered a soy dog on a whole wheat bun...I'd be in heaven! :cloud9:

I think it would be nice if they offered a choice. If I went to Publix for a sub, they have 2 or 3 different types of bread. I can't imagine it would be hard for Disney to have white and wheat. I don't think I'd like a hot dog on whole wheat, though. :) (turkey, yes!)

Disney keeps trying to do "healthier" choices, but it's not always the case.

Yep, yep - all I'm asking for is choice. I don't have anything against wheat - in fact, that's all I use at home. But I do have a problem with a bun that falls apart as I'm eating my hot dog, and that's what WDW's faux-wheat buns do. It's all about choices. :thumbsup2

I was just there a week ago and yep...all buns we ate all week long were wheat. BUT not just wheat - dry, crumbly, crappy wheat. Not one hot dog bun was any good - they all fell apart coming out the little bags at Casey's and anywhere else we ate them.

But what about bagels? We were at BWV and I went and ordered 2 plain bagels for my son and I and even they looked wheat!?!?:confused3

We eat wheat at home, but I'm sorry - it ruined my Casey's experience...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a hot dog from Casey's and it was horrible...:sad2:

My hot dog got pooped on by a bird the last time we were there, so maybe thats another way to add a little fiber!

Its been my experience that the birds have always stolen the hot dogs. Now,the birds don't even want the wheat buns......so they poop on them. :lmao:
