She doesn't have to answer anything that implicates her for the present charges. The duct tape ties her to the present charges.

I am obviously confused, so will someone please explain why we are so concerned about the duct tape on the can?

Ties duct tape at scene on Caylee to house (and maybe George or Casey).

Thinking like the defense:

I think to show that George is the only one with knowledge of how to use duct tape, therefore he's the one who put the duct tape on Caylee, thereby proving that he helped Casey cover up Caylee's accidental drowning....

The judge can rule on a mistrial request up until the time he reveals the verdict. The jury can return with a verdict, the judge can see the verdict, and THEN he can rule on a mistrial request. He said he would reserve ruling until later. The defense has asked for a mistrial, they can't take it back now or say "unless she is found not guilty."

I guess I am just amazed that a judge can reserve his ruling all the way up to a verdict.

But I do think it is cool that if the verdict comes back not-guilty, he can then declare a mistrial, and Casey would have to be tried again, right?
