Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

If CM is such a bigshot how is this happening? It has to be deliberate on the defense team= no defense

this won't be popular but it's not all baez fault.

it takes 2 to tango and ashton has had his fair share of hand slaps of his own.

Yeah, but if I am understanding corrEctly--this morning's moment was instigated by Saturday's incident which was solely Baez's fault. Can't blame Ashton for that one. Though I did not witness the exchange, so if I am missing anything, feel free to fill in the gaps.

Perry would not have said what he said to Baez on Saturday if this were Ashton's fault. (Baez picking and choosing which court orders to follow.)

I cant understand how an attorney does not have enough witness for the day. I guess he planned on keeping them on the stand all day? Baez has not been very professional at all. Nothing is ever Baez's fault. I cant believe you gave the state a report with nothing in it? And testify to what? And Ashton is to accomodate this man on a whim?

i don't think the report was literally blank - but i do think what was on it was irrelevant to what he would be testifying about

jp is "this close" to starting at 8.30"

if they don't want to act professional he will retuce lunch hours, and will make them "work FULL days"

ouch - they are getting it but GOOD this morning

Loved this morning already with JBP dressing down the attorneys! That whole "9:25. 9:26. You two can't agree on anything" was a great way to start the morning!

And now recess til 10:25. JBP is pissed!!!!!

Baez is not ready? Seriously? Is it any wonder why people call him Bozo? He had all of Sunday ... not to mention the last 3 years!

ETA that I feel bad for the jury having to be there all day on Saturday because of the attorneys behavior!! Sucks for them but I see why JBP is doing it.

I'm just back from 2 weeks of travel with only a few opportunities to see the night time wrap ups of the trial. Lovin' this mornin' 'n this judge too! :woohoo:

You are right it takes two. But sometimes Baez takes advantage of things and expects things to go his way and not abide by court orders. I think Ashton has done a few things to irritate Baez as in " well how does that feel ". I am glad the judge is not putting up with the nonesense.

Are you kidding? Baez does not have enough witnesses? Is he dragging on purpose. We know that certain members of the journey have life plans in July. Is this a tactic to cause a mistrial or an appeal based on a jury that was too rushed?

I really cannot think of any other logical reason for these shenanigans?

Oh yes--and as another poster asked--what did JA not do at defense's request?

Ok....I think I have caught up now....JB says he doesn't have enough witnesses and he is blaming that on JA?! After reading the JP story, I wouldn't want to tick him off...he runs a tight ship.

no no - it's not all about saturday. jp is pissed with everything going back to the beginning, missed deadlines, unprofessional behaviour in the court room, this morning is just one more thing to add to a long list of crap that has been pulled.

mostly but not all baez as far as trial is concerned - i dont' have any info on pretrial stuff but it's enough that jp is angry for all the wasted time

Mike Brooks on InSession said that the whole time JP was talking Baez never looked at him...talked to Mason and Casey.

InSession commentators talking about an appeal based on "ineffective assistance of counsel", since they get asked that question by the public so much. Answer...Baez is surrounded by an experienced team of lawyers, but if afterward the other lawyers claim that he refused to listen to them and Baez took complete control, then maybe that would be a basis for appeal. :confused3 Or something like that; still need coffee!

Since Baez is inexperienced he had to have a more experienced attorney on board. So I dont understand why Mason is not instructing Baez on things he needs to do or not do. The defense is doing things on purpose. But I think the judge is really pointing the finger at the defense as this is not the first time the defense team has done this.

Who are the people that sit directly behind the attorney's when they are at the podium? They look like they are writing things down? Are they reporters or are they just the public? One guy looked like he was about to laugh several times when Baez was speaking.

Interns and/or paralegals, I think.

baez had 2 witnesses lined up for this morning and both were veto'd for testomony today so he had to wait for the 3rd witness (who i dont' think was expected to testify until after lunch)

this is one of the few f ups that you can understand since you can't really have every witness hang out in the court just in case your first ones either finish early, get sick, are told by the judge to step down.

what if all of baez's witnesses were told they couldn't testify today- would have then be expected to produce tomorrows witnesses or would court be in recess until tomorrow?

I would be willing to bet that Mason is instructing Baez but Baez will not listen. Too arrogant and wanting to do things his own way.

At this point I think JB is almost looking for a mistrial because he knows CAs goose is cooked.

I saw a map of the court room somewhere 'n if I recall correctly those seats are reserved for the press.

hummmm that would be hard since mason has done his share of questioning. maybe if it was just baez and that girl show is being mommy to casey instead of doing actual lawyer duties there might be a case but something tells me mason has a mouth and has done some yelling at baez behind closed doors
