Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

This doctor is old and needs to retire. No offense to the elderly, but if he can't remember if he's been on the Today show, then his memory is shot.

So let me get this straight. Dr G examined the contents of the skull from the bottom, but this guy says it should be examined from the top? Well, if he can't site it in writing, then it isn't really protocol to examine from the top.

And if I am understanding correctly (please correct me if I am wrong) both found sediment. Dr. G TESTED it and found it to be dirt. Dr. Spitz OBSERVED it and determine it was brain dust.

AGRR stop hitting the mic

I don't feel sorry for him at all. I had never heard of him prior to today, but he is not really earning his pay. His insistence that not opening the skull is a violation of protocol seems akin to a parent saying "because I said so."

He may be an expert, even a respected expert, but he is just not coming off as credible here.
I agree. Even tho I think very highly of the use of the line "because I said so" in my home :) that attitude doesn't belong in a court of law.

sooooooo what are you saying???? when i tell my daughter `because i say so` it`s not protocol?

i dont' care. i'm not going to stop saying it to her LOL

Is all the hair talk to determine if the skull (body) was moved?? Why is the placement of the hair imortant?

Spitz is having a hard time remembering what he gave in an INTERVIEW...he meant to watch the interview, but he fell asleep. Doesn't recall being on the Today Show or 48 Hours.

I LOVED that comment - I don't remember what I said because I fell asleep and did not watch it! :rotfl::rotfl:

Because it was found (the hair) at the back of the skull, not the LEFT side of the skull like the good doctor is claiming.

So SPITZ did it! He admitted HE'S in possession of duct tape! ;) J/K!

I don't really know anything about Dr Spitz (other than that he is proving on the stand that maybe he needs to retire). My mom was telling me that she remembers him (we used to live in MI) and he was very controversial. He would say one thing about a body, a group of experts/other Drs would say just the opposite, but the powers-that-be would go by what Spitz said because he was so well known.

And if the duct tape was put on the head when it was just a skull as he is saying, wouldn't there be residue on the bones? That stuff does not easily wash away.

So, the skull decomposed on the side (per Spitz), and to get the duct tape on the skull, the skull would have had to have been moved to get the duct tape around each side, but moving the skull would have separated the mandible from the skull, so the person would have had to replace it in an anatomically correct position.

So far, Ashton is winning this one, IMHO.

but why would you want to attatch the jaw to the skull after it had decomposed

i just don't understand - why anyone would do that - even if someone did find the bones and move them - why bother sticking the jaw back on????

that theory doesn't even make sense

Good grief! As much as I despise this man from past experience, I am starting to feel sorry for him. His memory is horrible and he is losing credibility. Sad since he is a highly qualified individual.

The trial I was on was just a civil suit for money but the defense had someone that was their witness who was old and supposedly knowledgeable but his whole cross examination was like this one. I guess we on the jury were making faces or something because after the trial was over both lawyers came in to talk to us.

The defense attorney wanted out opinion on his witness..so we told him. His comment was "well, I guess we don't use him anymore..your faces while he was talking were priceless..you all looked like you felt sorry for him".

The prosecution wanted to know if we would have awarded money and asked each one of us. We all said yes but not what he was asking for.

Maybe that is why they settled while we were on lunch break. LOL

Oh, please ... methinks it's a case of "selective memory". Dollars to donuts he remembers. Who forgets being on the Today show? He just doesn't want to admit it. He knows Ashton is trying to blow his credibility.

So the body is now decomposed and then they went back and put duct tape on it. But you had to align the jaw just right. How long before they went back to do this? If the skin is gone there would be residue on the bone.

Good point.

A side note: DW is conducting her own experiment on the effects of water on duct tape glue (unfortunately, not Henkel duct tape). She's taped up a leak on our garden hose, so we'll let you know how it goes.

Okay did they take the head some where else and bring it back after they got it right?
