No, every parent doesn't know. Esp with a compulsive liar. That's how compulsive liars can be compulsive liars...they're good at it. Growing up, surely I lied to my parents at SOME point, and they didn't know. And surely, with 3 now adult kids, I've been lied to somewhere along the line about something and didn't know it. I thinks it's a dangerous thing to think that your child will NEVER lie to you, and that you will ALWAYS know when they are.

And the way Cindy describes it all, it does sound like it certainly could be the truth. As a parent of an adult child you might think it sounds strange but you would never think her lies would mean that she killed her child, your grandchild. You would have to think that she was just dragging the child along on all the crap she was doing, which while not the perfect way to bring up a baby isn't in itself criminal. And like she said, "she's just the Grandma". I'm wondering how many times Casey threw that line at her?

I'm not sure what they are arguing about here. How is what she is saying now different than anything else she has been saying about their conversations over the last month? :confused3

I'm so sad I missed today. I had to go to the doctor and have bloodwork. Does anyone know if there is a good day summary somewhere?

I think HLN is rebroadcasting it now, altho only for 3 hours and they were in court for 4 today. Of course, if they edit out all the sidebars and recesses...

Also, WFTV.com has video of the whole day.

Here's video of Casey after Cindy left the stand today. Can anyone read lips? (Maybe Websleuths?) That lawyer (curly hair woman) gave Cindy such a look as she walked away out of the courtroom. Well, Casey has a whole new family now. Out with the old, in with the new.

All I was able to make out was at the beginning...

Right when the attorney stares down Cindy, it appears that Casey "claims" she just wants her mother to look/hold me? (can't figure that one out)

Something something...."protect him"? (what testimony prior to this was "protecting" George??)

"She does that to protect him" "cry now?"
"For THREE YEARS she has done NOTHING"....something something..."I mean, how could she do that to me?"......something something "every single time/day"

@1:53ish "She hasn't looked at me one single _____ "(can't tell if it is "time" or some other word)
@2:07ish "she can't even do that for me" (first part, I cannot tell, but last part was clear)
Which is interesting--very interesting. Much much much evidence that Cindy has done something in the past three years. Especially over in the first 6 months.

I guess the "nothing" is perhaps Casey's "truth".

But it is nothing more than a snot nosed liar having a temper tantrum.:confused3

I would be very interested in a lip reader transcript of what she said.

Fortunately for the prosecution, courtroom demeanor is not evidence, so zero way for the defense to attempt to cause a stir with yet another lie.

I am coming to the conclusion that so that Casey doesn't lose the support of her defense team, this is a well timed "woe is me" ploy. Now she has the understanding attorney telling her "I know" and making her feel better. Wow!

Ran around like a crazy woman this morning...tuned in and can't imagine what today will bring.

Pretty good. I thought I saw the lawyer say in the beginning after Casey said something that ended in "me" ...'she believes what George says' or something similar. At first I thought it was just listen what the judge says, but now I think it is ..she believes what George says.

Again, no tears for Caylee..but plenty for Casey. I think she got super upset because her mom won't look at her and when she walked away she most likely went straight to George. It looks like Casey was just staring them down and they didn't look at her.

Then we put it into context. Cindy's testimony had just begun--lots more to go....and ALL they discussed was the house floor plan, yard layout.:confused3

I could see if prosecution inquired about defense's claims of abuse. But there is nothing about doing what George said as there was absolutely NOTHING brought up...yet.

"So Caylee had Pooh Bear bedding and curtains, right"

"Right"

Casey: It's soooo unfair....

Her tantrum does not make sense to the context at all.

Actually, at :46, which is where I Think you are talking about...

I can see where it might seem like "george says"....

But before that, attorney says "She has to believe it. She..." Then it seems like she repeats the same idea, but uses different words. I don't see "judge" or "George" being mouthed...but it could be just the way she was talking.

ETA: looks like "She HAS to be believe it, she can't deny it" (struggling with that last part--can't make it out--replayed it several times)

It was after some mumble Casey did about "protect him/crying now" comment and just before the "Did nothing for 3 years".

ETAA: I think that may be what the atty is saying which is very interesting. What she might be inferring is that Cindy can't lie on the stand--so she must be believing what she is saying....I don't know. That attorney seems to be saying the correct things without telling Casey that Casey is to be believed. I'm not saying that right, but hopefully someone can pick up on what I mean. :)

Ummm....at 1:01 when Casey goes into her tirade of "every single time"....it appears atty says "you're right, I was wrong". Huh?

Just got back from dance class with dS and other "stuff". Caught what I could on my phone and watching the replay now. Just caught up on this thread too!

First. CONGRATS MaryAnn! A grandbaby.. thats awesome!

I feel the same way. I think Casey really has no love towards her mother at all.

I agree. I think she can't stand her mother. And there was a whole lot of jealousy. I think she used Caylee to upset her mother.

My heart breaks for cindy....she is clearly devastated..casey appears detached and cold, almost angry to me....like she resents her mom....am I alone in this thinking???

.
No , you aren't alone.

Anyone catch Casey's venom spewwing? WKMG blog was on fire with it, but some folks are joking.

Apparently Casey is upset that her mom did nothing for her for the past three years.

!

I missed seeing that but twitter was a twitter!! Saying Casey broke down crying but she wasn't sad she was ANGRY!

Casey cries whenever anyone talks about her. She doesn't cry when they talk about Caylee.

.

Exactly!

ok so i don't understand what casey's motive would have been

?
Maybe she got tired of having to lie and wanted out of the way. Who knows what she was thinking. She is a sociopath.

I realize none of you know me personally, but I am very sensetive toward this trial as I have lost my daughter who was only 25. I dont know why I feel like I am being attacked for any comment I made is not hurting anyone. But for someone else it is okay to make comments that may have suggestion with it. If you do not want me on the thread that is fine. I am just a person who is discussing this like anyone else here.

What? You can't go anywhere! Stay. And I have to say how sorry I am for your loss. I really can't imagine a worse loss than losing a child.

I think I'd confess just not to have to sit there and be totally embarrassed. B)

Well, heck, what's a little embarrassing after being willing to sit in jail for 3 years!

It just seems odd to me, since they clearly loved Caylee very much and were protective of her, that they didn't want to at least get to know the person caring for Caylee. What an odd family.

It looks to me that they were both walking on eggshells around Casey, and didn't dare ask her too many questions or demand to meet people that were around her. Maybe Casey threatened them to move & take Caylee.
.

Very odd family. But I agree with marivaid. I think they were scared of Casey. They were scared she would take off with Caylee and scared of what would happen to Caylee because Casey wouldnt be able to take care of her. I think they appeased her and were careful in what they said to her to not "piss her off".

I haven't commented in this thread, but a couple of times in the jury selection one-you all are making it easier for those who don't have access to the Internet during the day to get our fix.

I'm no expert, but part of it was "That beyotch... can you believe she didn't even LOOK at ME." Part of her mouth is covered, but look at it right after the curly haired lawyer turns and looks in the direction that Casey is. You'll see her vehemently say the "That beyotch (not sure of the middle part) and then the rest, with her petulant LOOK at ME."

True sociopathic/narcissistic behavior.

I don't think I could have watched Cindy's testimony. From what you all are saying, I would have been a regular waterworks and I'm not an overly emotional person.

I do wish George would just come out and say full truths. The fact is, he was terrified when he picked up that car because they were already suspicious that Casey had been lying and was scared she might have done something terrible. That is why the didn't call 911 right away.

They knew who their daughter was. They had been dealing with her stealing money from them and from the grandparents for a long time. They already had suspicions that she wasn't really working. A therapist had already told Cindy to kick Casey out and file for custody of Caylee. But she was scared she would never see the little girl again.

I think they now , hopefully, realize that its sink or swim . Either they tell the truth or they are going down. At least George is going down. And all the lies they've told are now being used to say they were covering for themselves and not for Casey.

BTW, not sure if its been posted or anyone wants to read it, but there is the posting on MySpace that Cindy made:

Current mood: http://x.myspace.com/images/blog/moods/iBrads/sad.gif distraught

She came into my life unexspectedly, just as she has left me. This precious little angel from above gave me strength and unconditional love. Now she is gone and I don’t know why. All I am guilty of is loving her and providing her a safe home. Jealousy has taken her away. Jealousy from the one person that should be thankfull for all of the love and support given to her. A mother’s love is deep, however there are limits when one is betrayed by the one she loved and trusted the most. A daughter comes to her mother for support when she is pregnant, the mother says without hesitation it will be ok. And it was. But then the lies and betrayal began. First it seemed harmless, ah, love is blind. A mother will look for the good in her child and give them a chance to change. This mother gave chance after chance for her daughter to change, but instead more lies more betrayal. What does the mother get for giving her daughter all of these chances? A broken heart. The daughter who stole money, lots of money, leaves without warning and does not let her mother now speak to the baby that her mother raised, fed, clothed, sheltered, paid her medical bills, etc. Instead tells her friends that her mother is controlling her life and she needs her space. No money, no future. Where did she go? Who is now watching out for the little angel?

I am confused--what do you think George and Cindy were covering up?

From my recollection regarding police interview videos, they were very cooperative to get to the bottom of this and had been duped thinking their really was a nanny.

I guess I am puzzled regarding your last paragraph.

In the end, IF Casey is the one who did it, their action or lack of action in the month of July would not have changed the outcome.:sad1: It doesn't let Casey off the hook.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the photo of Casey at the wedding with her mother? After listening this morning, DW wanted to see it. I checked the evidence link in post #1, but didn't see it there (may have missed it).

Thanks

Maybe cover up isnt the right word. I do believe they impeded the investigation. At first they were cooperative but it soon changed as she realized they were honing in on Casey. I dont know if they didn't want to believe the Casey did this so they were angry that cops weren't looking for others. Cindy was blaming Ricardo , Tony and even Jesse for a while. Saying they had to know something.

The other possibility is that they suspected Casey and tried to get the attention off of her. They definately were nasty to the cops and didn't want to help. They kept information to themselves. They didn't give up Caylee's hairbrush . They didn't give all the credit card receipts showing how Casey was stealing from them. They kept all of Casey's previous issues quiet. There was a definite point where they went from finding Caylee to protecting Casey.

They fought and hemmed and hawed. The depositions in the civil case that the woman actually named Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez brought on are particularly telling. George and Cindy were very combative during many of the pre-trial hearings. I think they are finally admitting to themselves how much their daughter is willing to lie.

i'm back from my u/s - baby is head up but that's ok - she's got 7 weeks to flip flop all over the place lol
