I didn't watch the opening statements yesterday, but have had it on all morning.

I am just astounded that the defense is trying to say that Caylee drowned and Casey and her dad tried to hide it all. Really? Who made up that story...Casey or her attorney?

I think that this family is very messed up and I am not sure what emotions they can hide. I mean George was able to have an affair while the search was going on for his granddaughter? I don't think he did the things that Casey is accusing him of but I do think that he would do whatever he needs to have his daughter freed.

Also...Casey claiming she was paying a nanny $400 a week to watch her child is laughable. I have several friends that work at Universal (not just the theme parks themselves) and they barely make $10 an hour. How could anyone believe her that she would pay someone that much money to watch her child, all while "paying" for food, housing, car insurance, etc. etc. etc.

$400 is double what we pay for daycare here in Orlando.

Oh I'm not accusing him of it at all, I don't think he did it in the least. Just wanted to make that clear. I was just commenting that if he was involved of the drowning of Caylee, I don't think he could sit straight faced when they brought it up in trial, I think he would have broken down. Just like some people are saying if he did not abuse Casey, then he should have broken down when that was brought up. That is all... I am definitely NOT saying he did it.

Oh I am not say your accusing him, I just meant I hope he did not consent to doing that, as that could damage anything in the future for that. Yes it would be very hard to sit with a straight face. I think it is very rough on him. I think he needs to take a more of a stance with cindy and not give into the demands she may hold on him or even try to influence if they are wrong issues to begin with.

If that is the case he shouldn't have been able to sit straight faced, either, when they were talking about George finding Caylee in the pool and holding her in his arms, etc.

Its all good, I am a person who likes to have discussions on the issue and get peoples opinion on things. That is what makes all different. Sometimes I read things and think well I never thought about that before. It is interesting and I enjoy this thread and everyone here.

I am not saying if it is true or not. I am just stating if you tell someone that you would allow yourself to be accused of that, it could hurt you down the line. I am sure there is so much more than we will ever know, and may not want to know.

I've known abuse victims. And no, not everyone reacts the same way. I think there MAY be something to the George accusation...mainly because it appears she slept around like crazy...I just don't think that it explains showing NO emotions after her beloved daughter was dead. Being abused and going to school as if nothing happened, I buy; being abused and lying about her daughter being dead from the very day she died, and showing no emotion about her death, not so much. My opinion. Nothing will convince me otherwise.

She behaves very much like Diane Downs did - showing no emotion and smiling at odd times. Downs was a victim of incest as well.

I can't ever feel sorry for Casey, no matter what really happened. But psychopaths don't come from normal loving families. She's a product of dysfunctional, messed up parents, I don't know exactly what they did to her but they did something to make her what she is.

That figure stood out to me, too. I would then think: if you're paying someone $400 a WEEK, that's got to be the best nanny around. And probably one that would lose a child. Her inconsistent statements & actions are mind boggling.

Does Baez have ANY legal accountability to back up ANY statement that he made in opening statements? ANY accountability what so ever? ETA: I am having a hard time believing that a defense statement could be laced with accusations and just be permitted to sit without proof. Help me out. Thanks!.

None whatsoever. Hopefully the jury will be stirred up enough to remember in detail what he laid out & look to match it w/ evidence & testimony presented.

I can't speak for Dr. Girlfriend but for me it's the Boy Who Cried Wolf thing. She's told SO many lies, half truths & innuendos that anything she claims gets automatic suspicion from me.

Promiscuity and dissociative behavior are classic symptoms of sexual abuse, especially as a child of incest.

Anybody think it's likely George's suicide attempt occurred after he became aware what the Defense was going to allege about him?

What I'm curious about is if George and/or Cindy are questioned by the Pros about their discussions w/ the Defense? As far as I know, their communication is not covered by privilege because they are not the clients. If they told the truth about the communications I think that would blow a hole smack through Defense claims.

I think that was done when Casey said her brother was molesting her. They did that to make sure he wasnt the dad, because Casey wont reveal who the dad is. IMHO I dont think she even knows who the dad is. So by saying he died is a way to difuse the whole thing and not bring up a name. By having the paternity test done there is no question in court either. Could you imagine if he was? Oh boy this would really be a trial of the century.

I don't believe it for a second either....not saying she wasn't molested by someone else...but if you've watched how she acted towards her family throughout these past years, she has been planning this since she cut off contact....I don't believe she would leave Caylee with an abuser either.
