I missed part of the defense opening statement. What did the juror hear about George & abuse? And now they are hearing him first.

Was it sexual abuse, verbal, physical?

He looks strong.

Now I'm really curious about the eyebrows. Maybe she plucked too much.

I think it's a smart move. Address and disapprove the allegations surrounding him right away.

Yep--eliminate the possibility of reasonable doubt from that asinine defense opening statement.


Legal Eagle Question:

For Jose's theory to stick, does reasonable doubt work in reverse? I.e. Prosecution pokes many holes in their theory to show that it is a smoke screen of an impossibility?

Wonder when George and Cindy will file their lawsuit.

For if they don't, won't the state be obligated to go after them for Casey's allegations? (And Lee as well?) My understanding is that crimes against children don't have a statute of limitations--anyone know if this is certain?

OK...when your unmarried DD tells you she's pregnant, you don't ask right away who the father is? George just wanted Casey to be happy and get through the pregnancy.

FYI...oy...my DD who is getting married Friday is pregnant. She's been with her boyfriend for over a year, and they both felt early on that they would get married "someday"...certainly at a more ideal time than now. "Happy" was not my first reaction. We're adjusting at this point. Excited with the ultrasounds, but they came weeks after we found out. I will ADORE this baby, even without a solid boyfriend or marriage. But I'd definitely be EXTREMELY concerned if there was no specific boyfriend, and you can bet I'd be asking questions!

George and Cindy have been trusting that Casey did not do anything wrong. At least that is what they said.

I am hoping that George will not beat around the bush and be honest about his thoughts as to what he thought at the time. I don't think he would lie on the stand, but I would hope that he won't "cover" for the lying accuser.

I'm confused by the defense's story. So George Anthony was there when the baby accidentally drown and Ray Kronk hid the body?

Every news article I've read has said the defense is going to say that Ray Kronk played a role in hiding the body. How does he even know this family?

Also why was there chloroform in the trunk of Casey's car? Why did she do internet searches for chloroform, neck breaking, etc? Why was there duct tape over the child's mouth and nose? If the child was already dead, why would she put duct tape over the child's mouth and nose before disposing of the body?

I'm confused. Honestly it sounds like a bunch of last minute nonsense to save Casey from convinction. To me, at least...

Does Baez have ANY legal accountability to back up ANY statement that he made in opening statements? ANY accountability what so ever? ETA: I am having a hard time believing that a defense statement could be laced with accusations and just be permitted to sit without proof. Help me out. Thanks!.

yeah, if my father was abusing me, Id always keep sleeping and hand my kid to him to watch tv and eat breakfast... Alone time with abusing grandpa is exactly what I would do!
