Casey Anthony JURY SELECTION...links organized in first post

Is the trial being shown live? If so, what channel? I turned to TRU TV today but they were showing something else.

Some of the people who showed up at the Anthony's house were nuts! I'm hoping that this woman was not using the court as a place to express herself. If she did, I think that the judge needed to fine her. The trial is about a little girl not about some blowhard who thinks the world is entitled to her opinions.

I thought it was an Equisearch volunteer.

Some people were nuts.

But some part of the blame lies with George and Cindy. Their repeated covering for their daughter caused a lot of issues that could have easily been avoided.

They want to believe someone else murdered their grandchild. I can understand that. What I can't understand is when you have a lying deceiving child who lied to police, stole from her best friend to shop at Target, and didn't report their grandchild missing--how can you ignore all these things? Their support wouldn't make her "not guilty" any more than their condemnation would make her "guilty".

I look forward to the cross examination AND their witness testimony on the side of the prosecution. I haven't a clue on what their defense testimony could be that would provide any reasonable doubt that it could have been someone other than Casey. They NEVER saw Zanaida for starters. Noone can prove this woman is nothing but a fabrication.

I think they adjourned at 3:30pm.

I don't get it up here and don't want to watch too much live--I know I will get sucked in and ignore the rest of my responsibilities.:surfweb:

Cindy and George should have kept their mouths shut and hid out, rather than creating more drama confronting people outside their house. Why didn't they just stay in the house and call law enforcement? I'm real big on HIDING OUT. (I'd be a terrible famous person.)

InSession ends at 3:00 PM EST, but court is still in session. Jury selection is still going on right now. There's a link in the first post on where to watch. But I'll throw it in here again. :)

Keep checking the first post for other links. Each day (not sure for how long) there's at least a new link for Aphrodite Jones' take on this case.

Thanks--

Also--one very important thing to note....

Casey wanted to be released from Jail so that she could help in the search. She never, NOT ONCE, helped anyone to locate her little girl. The only thing she did was go to Jose's office for many hours.

While it is not proven, but perhaps evident as to their relationship today requiring separation since it wasn't working...

She could have easily just gone and played video games for the 4-6 hours she was there. Of course he doesn't have to tell us anything nor should she.

But Casey not helping and her parents not doing anything....

The protests were because all three of them were selfish and it appeared that most of Orlando cared more about that little girl than any of them did. The protests stopped once she was returned to jail.

People wanted justice or to find Caylee and because of Casey's refusal to help even though she promised to help and her parents denial, justice is what it took.

thanks for posting link, it is off air here. :flower3:

More crazies to deal with today. One guy intentionally talked to reporters, against the orders of the judge, to get out of serving. He was dismissed, but he was fined $450.

Many people have realized what it takes to get out of serving and are coming in with some strange reasons as to why they cannot serve. One woman said she could not serve because she and her husband are never away from each other. She was not dismissed.

At this point, since the jurors are not sequestered, they have access to the media. Even though they were told not to watch coverage of the case and the proceedings, there is nothing in place to stop them. The news coverage here is, as expected, almost excessive. Numerous updates are made throughout the day. They have reported reasons why other jurors have been excused. Most people do not want to serve and some are not above inventing a reason to make sure they don't have to do so.

Potential juror scolded by Judge Perry, video (showing the juror):

Same guy...Jonathon Green...hounded by the media as he leaves court:

OK, the guy's a total jerk, but I can't help feeling a little sorry for him. Sometimes I'm a total weanie.

BTW, these links are from the first email update I received after signing up here:
http://www.wftv.com/emailnewsletters/index.html

There are other interesting links in the email from today's jury selection that I haven't looked at yet, but if you're looking for the highlights of each day, that's probably a good way to get them.

Wow, wow, wow! The guy was very lucky to get off w/ $450 fine only.

This judge is really impressive, keeps his cool, stays on task like a bloodhound. He is an Orlando-area judge, seated temporarily in Pinellas County to impanel the jury, correct?

I surely would not want to sit on this jury, but I pity the fool who next attempts to shirk duty on this case. Jury selection in general is completely tedious. Jury selection in this case is going to be like a slow, tedious cruise in your bathtub -- filled with piranhas.

The Defense must be licking this process up like cream. Wonder how long their list of appealable issues is already?

So they finished their preliminary screening for hardship. Tomorrow starts the real jury selection where jurors are questioned more in depth and each side had strikes and objections. I think Judge Perry said that he expects it to go through Saturday. He is still set on starting the case on Tuesday.

He has the patience of Job. He really was sympathetic and compassionate with each juror, never getting impatient. I would have been snapping at these folks after an hour LOL!

What makes me laugh about the defense is how they complain about the media and publicity. Uh.. it was Cindy and George Anthony that started all this media blitz and Jose Baez lapped it up at first. This is a main reason why the case has taken off with publicity. Well that and the fact that people just can't seem to understand how someone can lie the way Casey does and how her parents have just ignored everything they've said and gone into total "cover" for Casey mode.

No idea, but if they don't play nice, the judge will pop back over to Orange County. So Baez better find some acceptable jurors or he is going to have less fun in Orange county.

The media down here really isnt inudated. Theyve reported each morning that's its day X of jury duty, but that's about it. Im sure it will pick up nightly as the trial begins. Right now, people are like, "Oh yeah, THAT case". Most people Ive spoken to had forgotten about it or not even realized it was still going on.

You're not kidding that guy got off easy, except for looking like the biggest idiot du jour. Judge Perry said he wouldn't jail him THIS TIME, but I really think he should have. PLUS the fine. Send a strong message to potential jurors. But he was GOOOOOOOD! I'd be behavin' real good in his court. ::yes::

Perry is the Chief Judge of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, but I don't know what that means. :confused3

It means he's the Top judge of that entire circuit. The 9th Judicial Circuit is the court system that handles everything for Orange County and Osceola County in central Florida. Anything and everything legal for these two counties is handled here and Judge Perry is the top banana judge. He assigns cases and other kinds of logistical work.

He's also very well respected in the court system. His rulings are rarely overturned and he is very no-nonsense. Im sure when the Defense got Judge Strickland removed , they didn't hope to get Judge Perry!

Watching the Judge speak to Mr. Green, did you get the opinion he might have been a bit slow. He appeared to me (sitting on the stand) of not realizing the seriousness of jury duty and esp in THIS case. Like even MaryAnn's clip of him walking to his car … he appeared to be smirking … I don't know, JMHO. I believe it is just as well that people (like Mr. Green) who will not take this serious should not be considered.

Were there any updates as to why CA was taken or left the courtroom late in the day … was she ill?

Imagine all the different kinds of people a judge must deal with day in and day out...defendants, lawyers (Bozzos), witnesses, jurors? I would have NO patience.

The defense has no right to complain about publicity. They're continually creating more media attention. Just putting out there that there's some sort of bombshell in the first few minutes of opening statements has increased public interest.

Thank you! I didn't know what 9th Judicial Circuit encompassed.

I remember hearing a bit early on about how well respected he was, and he just didn't do anything for me at first. I never paid that much attention to the hearings, but when I saw him, he was just sort of leaning back in his chair looking bored while the defense attorneys yakked away. But watching him now, really in action, I have a whole different view of him. Now I see that as listening and taking it all in. I'm a big Judge Perry fan now. :thumbsup2

I said the same thing to my husband about it being just as well...who'd want him on the jury? And could you imagine being sequestered with him (and a few other people I've listened to during jury selection)? I don't know if he was slow, or just a smartass. And I think he was SHOCKED by the media attention, and them asking him to repeat what he said to the clerk (laughing about just getting out of jury duty?). I was kind of shocked they showed him in court! ?? I guess you're anonymous, until you screw up and get held in contempt of court.

Casey's hand hurt or something...don't know any more than that. :confused3

Notice that her sudden attack came as the judge was reading the charges to the jury in the courtroom. Seems she always reacts when that happens and it's about her - but NOT when they discuss Caylee's death, etc. She's cool as a cucumber then.....

:sad1:
