Have any of you guys been watching the Casey Anthony trial? They found her not guilty and I feel sick to my stomach thinking of that woman walking free. What do you think of all this???

I am disgusted by the verdict. I didn't really think she'd get murder 1, but I thought that she at least deserved manslaughter and aggravated child abuse.

I think it's awful that they let that woman go. Everyone knows she killed her child. And the only thing she was found guilty of was lying to the police. She got away with murder. The thing was, I didn't think there was enough evidence for jury to say she did it. Although, the evidence they had up there was plenty enough. What mother wouldn't say anything when her child was missing for thirty days? And why would they find Caylee Anthony's skull with duct tape wrapped around it?

Let me say, I've been watching this case since Caylee went missing, and I didn't expect this.

I expected manslaughter and/or child abuse. The defense exposed the cracks in the prosecution's case, that being all evidence was circumstantial, and that was enough to throw off the jury. However, the major thing I wonder was why they set up an "accidental drowning" as murder and the fact Casey lied about Caylee's location for an entire month. She certainly had more to do with this murder than what she was convicted of.

The whole thing is sad as this little girl will never get justice for the terrible things that have happened to her.

Tell me about it! I didn't think she'd get 1st degree, but at least aggravated manslaughter. I'm ashamed that the jury only spent 10 hours in deciding whether or not to give justice to the poor little girl.

Its so horrible. And really, It's just like o.j. Simpson all over again. :headache::mad::sad2::sad1:

I've been keeping up with it!
I was absolutely stunned when they read the verdict today, because that is no where near what I was expecting to hear.
It's absolutely sickening to see her just get away with it like that.
It's pretty obvious that she did it.
And the fact that she may not have to serve anymore time after sentencing because of her time served prior to the trial is crazy too.
The best thing I've heard today is: "if Casey did not kill Caylee, then who did?"

Well before this verdict was read, my goal was to become an engineer for the CIA. I am now having a relapse of wanting to become a prosecution attorny for the state. Nancy Grace is my idol!

I'm glad to see other teens following the case.
I have watched every second and read the book about all the evidence. "Mommy's little girl" it was an amazing book.
Please tell me how in the world she got off?? I have been sick to my stomach all day!!

Please dont tell me George and Cindy will let her back in that house after she back stabbed them! PLEASE!

That and the fact she went out partying and was in a few contests unnameable on these boards any mother who's child just "drowned" wouldn't be out partying like a loon or entering themselves in those types of contests i guarantee you that

@CharlieBrown

Actually, the head prosecutor was Jeff Ashton, who is an amazing prosecutor, the problem was the jurors. They seem to be the only people in the world who believe she's innocent. HOWEVER the judge said before they deliberated, "It doesn't matter if you think she killed the child IN A DIFFERENT MANNER, you have to base it off of the PROSECUTIONS theory." So if the jurors thought yeah she killed her but I think she did it THIS WAY, they couldn't charge her because those weren't the court's rules. I'm angry that the jury only took 10 hours to deliberate over the death of a CHILD. It makes me sick.

I'm just completely shocked by this verdict. Even, though there wasn't really any solid evidence that would point directly to Casey, it was so obvious that she was guilty. I mean, she partied right after Kaylee's disappearance. It's like she had been waiting for that to happen. I mean, she never wanted a child in the first place and so murder was the only way out (uhhh... NO!) There also was the fact she turned against her parents. I mean, blame your dad for all of this? That shows how selfish she is. Kaylee will never receive the justice she deserved. I'm pretty sure, at this moment, Casey Anthony is probably the most hated woman in America because of this. It's just disgusting.

I agree. The verdict disgusted me so much. How can you spend two years making a fuss over this and then find her not guilty! no matter first or second hand, she killed her daughter. Its ok, God knows the truth and she is the one who will have to live with guilt for the rest of her life

Voice of reason right there! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

She will need to go into some protection program as im sure there are a few people out there who wish to end her life i dont think u can go into the witness protection program if your not a witness

Good point yellosno, and welcome to disboards! I see you've been a member since May though, so I suppose it's congrats on your 1st post!

I seem to have a different opinion on this than a lot of you do. I wrote an essay on this yesterday, so I'm just gonna post it here.

I don’t know if any of you people know how the legal system works, so I’ll explain something briefly. To charge someone of capital (first degree) murder, the prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. If the prosecution can’t completely prove it, the jury legally can’t convict.

Now, if we think onto the evidence of the Casey Anthony trial, most of the evidence is circumstantial. What does that mean? There is no DNA evidence or hard evidence in any form involved in the case. Seeing as though their main evidence consisted of the small traces of chloroform in the trunk of Casey’s car and the internet searches on her computer. Red flag right there: internet searches don’t really mean anything. I can tell you that within the last week, I have Googled cyanide, and I don’t plan on killing anyone. As far as the chloroform, it was barely detectable. A car smelling like “someone died in there” and the fact that the woman didn’t call police is not enough to convict her on.

I honestly believe that if the death penalty weren’t what the prosecution was shooting for, Casey would have been found guilty. Think about this: you’re in a jury and you are kind of convinced that the defendant did it, but not completely. Are you going to condemn them to death for it? Also, why should somebody get killed for killing someone else? NEWSFLASH! This isn’t biblical times. “An eye for an eye” shouldn’t apply, and isn’t killing someone on the side of cruel and unusual punishment?

Look, I’m not saying that this woman is an innocent angel; I’m just saying that, in the eyes of the law, this woman is not guilty of capital murder. Does this mean I think she’s innocent? Nope. I think she’s guilty as sin. But, if I were a juror, who’s to say that I’d feel the same way? Jose Baez was able to convince these jurors, by lack of evidence and otherwise, that Casey is not guilty of most of the crimes that she had been indicted on. She was, however, found guilty on the charge of lying to police.

So, I’m asking you all to think of it this way: YOU have not heard all of the evidence. YOU are not a juror. YOU do not know what went on. I’m sure that if you had any doubt in your mind that a defendant didn’t commit capital murder and they were possibly facing death for it, you would acquit them. And, if the Casey is guilty, karma will do it’s thing.
