I was thinking of taking a smaller case inside my larger case so that I'd have space on the way home. But, with the higher security nowadays, will this cause any problems?

A long as you are within your weight limit and amout of bags you are allowed then you will have no problems. I know someone that has done it.

We do this every time! :thumbsup2 Each of us packs the small case with essentials and then uses the larger, empty case for shopping... :goodvibes I will be doing it again in May!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Last year we had 3 large cases with the next size down inside them, never had any problems, and will be doing it again this year

Did this with no probs last August. Only thing was getting cases to fit without buying new!

I know people who have done this with no problems, we were going to but our cases don't fit inside each other.

Yeah, that's the bit that might stop me :) Haven't checked it yet and it might be an issue. Oh well, if it is I'll take two fairly empty cases instead.

Certainly saves having to buy a bag when you're out there!!! LOL!!:rotfl2:

Yep...I do this every time aswell! Me & DH go out with two cases and come back with 4! :dance3:

Likewise here, we have always done this as well - apart from the first time when we had to buy another case out there.:lmao:

when we travel together to the states, we always have our clothes in two cases (for the 4 of us) and 5 empty duffels packed into one other case (i.e. 6 empty cases, all packed together as one).
This way we have 8 suitcases on our return.

They couldn't care less how many empty duffels i have in there. Why would they care what you're carrying in your case as long as it's not something prohibited?

Another thing you can do is just buy a really cheap holdall at Walmart. That's what we did, I think it was about $14 and it was quite sturdy, and it was useful for putting all the food shopping in too!

We always take an extra bag. We use a duffle bag inside one of our cases.
I put all of our dirty washing in it for the trip home (so it is lightweight and doesn't need to be folded etc) and pack the new stuff in the suitcase.
