A while back, we reserved a casabella on the upper veranda of Ama Ama for our September trip. I was told the reservation was for the whole deck even though we only needed one casabella, because they reserve the entire deck as one - the casabellas couldn't be reserved individually.

Today, I was reading on the Aulani web site and the wording in the casabella section says this:

  • ‘AMA‘AMA Upper Veranda: Look upon the ocean from any of 2 casabellas, available for $150 each for a full day.
  • ‘AMA‘AMA Lower Veranda: Be closer to the beach on this lower level, where 3 casabellas are $225 each for a full day.

To me, that sounds like you can reserve ONE casabella and expect strangers to be in the other ones sharing the deck with you. Can anyone confirm which is the case?

And if you do have the whole deck to yourself, does that mean if you're on the upper veranda, it would cost you $300? ($150 x 2 casabellas)

Thanks!

I called and asked the same thing once I read what is on the website! The CM assured me that the cost was only $150 for both casabellas on the upper deck. We ended up canceling our reservations once we got there and saw where they were at in regards to the pool.....Maybe call and confirm? The wording is not clear at all!!

Thanks for the info. What about their location made you cancel them - a long walk to the pool? We're on the fence too. Could you tell if the area the casabellas are in would get full sun? We're sun worshippers and would prefer to have the option of full sun when we want it, so that's a factor for us too.

HI! We have kids, is the only reason we cancelled them! If it was just my husband and I, we probably would have kept them. We quickly realized our kids wanted to be in the lazy river and the slides most of the time, and the Ama Ama Casabellas are quite a bit away from that. They are the furthest point away from the pools, at the far end of Ama Ama. We couldn't really justify the cost for them, if we were hardly going to be sitting there. I would say in the morning they might be pretty shady for awhile, since the sun comes up behind them (and the resort), so maybe around lunch time, you would get more sun? I have photos of the casabellas and the view of the ocean from them in my trip report in my signature if you want to see. Take in mind I took the photos at around 9am. Are you renting them on your arrival day? If you do rent them, don't forget your flip flops, the deck they are on gets REALLY hot!! ;)

I had the lower ama ama veranda casabellas one day this past June. It was $225 and we had the 3 - 2 person recliners with shade that they refer to as casabellas. They do not rent the lounges separately, it seats 6. If you have less, you can stretch out, we had 10, & we made it work. We had the deck to ourselves and it overlooked the beach and ocean. It was a little bit away from the pool but we didn't care and our group went in the ocean. There was food and cocktail service that constantly came by so we never had to leave to look for those.

@Drusilla99 - thanks for the info! How would you say the deck was in terms of sun? Did you get full sun most of the day, only in the afternoon, or was it mostly shady?

I know I had the shade from the lounger up most of the day...and I think we put my parents in the farthest lounger because it was shady most of the day. My husband & dd16 love the sun & went down to the beach loungers so they could get direct sun. So, to the best of my memory, there was sun, but plenty of shade especially with the lounge shades.
