Anyone give me any info on these: do they hurt, how bad, what do u think of ppl that have them, what kind of earing, where to get it done, how long it wil hurt

pretty much anything about it :) thanks

The only piercing I have, and the only piercing I will have, is my earlobes.

But, if you want my opinion on cartilage piercing, even though it's not for me, I think it actually looks really cool! I think little silver hoops look the most awesome.

Sorry I can't give any valuable information regarding the actual piercing. >.>

if you get it, make sure you get it done with a needle, NOT a gun. a gun could shatter your cartilage, which would be extremely painful and not fun.

a needle might sound a little scarier, but trust me, it will be a lot less pain in the long run. basically, don't get it done at claires, or those piercing booths in the mall, like piercing pagoda. you're better off going to an actual, professional piercer.

i think cartilage piercings are really cute, esp with small rhinestone post earrings.

i have two cartilage piercings, but they're different from your average cartilage piercing (i have an industrial piercing), so i can't really give you advice on pain factor/healing time.

GL :)

I was gonna get one ages ago but then a load of girls and I mean like literally half my year went and got theirs done in the week we had off so I didn't get it done..

dont do it!!!
Reason # 1- If they get to close to a certain nerve it can distort your eyes when you smile. That is why certain places wont pierce this spot anymore

reason #2- My aunt decided to get one at claires (first mistake) and she has been hospitalized. She had an infection and it spred through her ear. She had to have surgery under anasethia to remove the infection . Now half of her ear is cut off and she has to get reconstruction plastic surgery or her ear will collapse.

So basically, I dont think they are necessary!

I have mine done. I love it. Never had any problems. If you get it just take good care of it. And I just keep a stud in there. I've had it done since 7th grade and I am now a senior.

I'll keep an eye on this thread because I've been thinking about getting mine pierced...

I like the way they look. The only problem with me is that I have really sensitive ears and I'm afraid that the piercing is going to get infected, which is really annoying/painful.

That's rather horrifying. D:

this is like saying dont get in a car, because it could crash and you might die.

i know plenty of people who have their cartilage done.
your aunt should have done research before getting a piercing. a little googling would have told her that you should NOT get cartilage done with a gun. NONONO. its like, the number 1 rule of piercing.
i'm very sorry about what happened to your aunt, but she really should have done research or asked (like the OP is doing :thumbsup2) before getting pierced.

one girl at my school got hers done by a year 10 in the boarding house, were in year 9.

no infection so far, but her second piercings on her lobes got infected while on camp.

edit: my friend in year 11 pierces peoples cartilige,

My friend and I got ours done dec 22.

We got them at walmart, you just have to pay for the actual earring and we thought they did a pretty good job.

It didn't intially hurt, but about an hour after it started stinging and throbbing. A few hours later and it was fine. Mine hasn't hurt since.

They say to keep it in for twelve weeks. I've changed mine a couple times. But if you do make sure it's another piercing one because those are the ones that won't give you an infection generally.

Personally, I'd do the gun..it's quicker..like a bandaid.

Good luck!

i really can't stress enough how much that is a bad idea.

I got mine done almost two years ago now. As long as you follow what they tell you and leave it in for the amount of time they suggest and clean it regularly it shouldnt get infected. Like someone else said it didnt hurt at first, but after a while it started to get really hot and throb. Other than that it just hurt to put alot of pressure on it. (like when your sleeping on it)

I had mine done with a gun, and had no complications. I think its more of a personal choice to go with a needle or a gun, but I would never get mine done at a claire's or somewhere like that. I got mine done by a trained enesthitician, so that might make a difference with the needle or gun.
