I am curious about getting some recent reviews on this. I have never eaten here nor have I seen World of Color. I was thinking this might be something nice to do with my mom for her birthday. Does anyone know what the current prix fixe menu options are? And is the viewing area nice?

I don't know about the current fixed menu, but we loved the viewing area. I actually prefer it to the dessert package viewing area, if you can get front row against the railing.

We did Cathay Circle for lunch, and were the only ones there - it was lovely. And then we turned up at the WOC about 45 mins early to get in first for the viewing area and took a spot right up against the railing. We're all really short people so needed to get a good spot. It was absolutely perfect in every way. No one blocking us, very central, close enough to see well but far enough away to not get wet. You do have to be okay with standing though.

We've also done the dessert package and I preferred the cathay circle food and viewing area, but getting to sit down was great, as was not having to queue early (if you're at the end of the line though you won't get a choice of table).

As much as I love the Carthay Circle, I would skip this and do the WOC Dessert Party. I'd much rather sit at the end of the night the night then stand.

Oh let me clarify. We are both AP holders. We wouldn't do an entire day there, maybe a few hours before dinner. I mainly want to try Carthay Circle and see WOC. I'll leave my 2 year old at home for this trip, so this will be a leisurely adult evening to spend quality time with my mom. We were at DCA a few nights ago but we missed WOC because we had to get my toddler home to bed.

Alternatively, I see that Wine Country Tratorria and Ariel's Grotto also offer WOC dining packages but I'm assuming Carthay Circle is superior? I haven't eaten at any TS restaurants in DCA.

We've done the WOC dinner at WCT once and Carthay twice. Given the choice, we will pick Carthay over WCT so if the meal is the big draw then I would pick there. We have also done the dessert party and given the choice between dinner and the dessert party we would pick the dessert every time but given your situation I would go for Carthay!

Carthay Circle is our go-to for the WOC dining package.

Food: We've gone three times total and have always enjoyed it, with our last trip being PHENOMENAL! We went in February 2017, just two months ago, it was knock-our-socks-off good. I mean, every single item I had was outstanding and it just blew me away. The service is impeccable and the food is quality. I am not an adventurous eater but I had a tomato soup with duck confit as an appetizer, and a prime rib with cranberry horseradish.

View: So worth it. As a disclaimer, I've never tried the dessert party so I don't know what that would be like, but I find the view with this package to be wonderful. Carthay Circle gets the best spot of all the dining packages and it truly is a massive upgrade from the FP viewing. I saw WOC with a FP two weeks prior to our Carthay Circle dining package and it was very obvious to me that the dining package gave me a far superior experience.

*Tip: If you do the Carthay Circle dining pagkage, make sure you arrive early. You can sit in the lounge and enjoy a drink before they take you up to your table. It's incredibly relaxing and there's a lot of cool memorabilia on the walls to look at. I think it helps add to the experience.

Thanks for the feedback, that makes me excited. Does it matter what time you make you dinner reservation? I read that dinner can take a while?

Yes, in February we were there a solid 2 hours. They were busy and the food did take a while. I think we had a 6:30 reservation, got done around 8:30, used a FP for Soaring, used a FP for RSR, and got to WOC with 15 minutes to spare before the 9:45 showing

We had lunch in December at Carthay Circle as part of the World of Color dining package. We were there over two hours. Beautiful restaurant and then we had the afternoon to do whatever before the show.

The price of our meal was close to the package and it was basically a wash. It included a beverage and desert. We both had some type of steak and it was maybe $45 each. We aren't big spenders and wouldn't have spent much more than that.

The viewing area was behind other sections or on steps. We chose the steps and had a great unobstructed view. We did have to stand as mentioned. We showed up maybe 20 minutes before the show.

I have seen the dessert package and the dessert offering just don't appeal to me personally. The dining package was great and I would recommend it.

We ended up doing the World of Color dining package with Wine Country and then just ate at Carthay Circle separately. It ended up being more economical that way. The food was definitely better at Carthay Circle, although not amazing. I am hoping to try Napa Rose on our next trip.

We did the dinner WOC Dining Package at Carthay back in October and loved it. The food was amazing, as was the bottle of wine that we added on. As others have said expect to spend well over an hour there for dinner. The viewing area was great and we had plenty of room to ourselves. The previous year we did the Ariel's Grotto dining package and would pick Carthay over that any time for both the food and viewing area.

My only hesitation about doing Carthay package is that it does take 2 hours to eat. If you're only in the park a limited time, do you really want to spend 2 hours of it eating? If you're ok with that, then the food at Carthay is great. The ambiance is also really nice, but keep in mind that it's still a Disney restaurant and there will be the usual tired, not so well behaved kids there even if your own 2 year old is home asleep. When DH and I went alone, we had a drink in the bar first and I recommend that as well. It's been a couple of years since we did the dining package, so I can't answer the view question -- don't really remember and it may have changed since then.

We like doing WOC Dessert Party instead now because I don't like to spend the park time at a restaurant and I like sitting for WOC.

That is a good point about other people's kids in the restaurant. It's funny because I truly would never bring my 2 year old to a restaurant like that, Disney or no. Now, I know some 2 year olds can totally handle a nice meal like that but I know mine cannot! And I wouldn't really enjoy it myself for that matter!

I don't mind a long meal. It will be nice to spend some quality time with my mom and I feel like it's one of the perks to having an annual pass. I don't think I would do something like this if I only came to Disney once or twice a year. I'd want to be in the park for sure! But it sounds like fun to do something out of the ordinary that we might otherwise not do.

I'm thinking we will hit the park around 3:00, maybe do a few rides or just walk around and explore a bit, then have dinner around 6:30 to give us plenty of time to finish before WOC at 9:00.
