Carsland question - FP wait

I'm wondering if people are holding onto their FP and using later in the day thus making the FP wait much longer in the evening?

I wonder if wait times for the ride ever shorten near closing or if it's just packed until they close the line. Have we heard what time they are stopping people from getting in line and how late it is when the last rider is done?

As for your first point, it could be that a bunch of people are holding onto their FP, but my guess is that the long FP return times later are due to a lot of FP people who returned earlier during their actual return time but the ride was broken and they were turned away.

Not entirely sure what wait times are like at park closing, but I've heard about 3 hours. And I'm pretty sure it's just like any other DLR attraction where they let you in up until official park closing and you're allowed to ride. This would put the last rider on around 1-2AM.

According to Otto, the automated phone info line, RSR FPs were gone by about 9:15am this morning, about the same as yesterday.

This is surprising because all SoCal APs are blocked out today, and according to Al Lutz DCA saw record attendance yesterday.

EDITOR’S NOTE 6/20: After DCA broke attendance records twice over the weekend with 45,000+ visitors per day, they broke the records again on Tuesday with 53,000 visitors at DCA. The suits are smiling as Disneyland held its own with 47,000 visitors on Tuesday. And yes, DCA is now getting more visitors per day than Disneyland. Thrilling the Anaheim team even more is the fact that DCA felt busy with a once unthinkable 53K, but that the overall park vibe was upbeat and had manageable wait times outside of Cars Land.

Thinking about just doing single rider line and skipping FP. Seems like line to get a FP is just as long as single rider line! My 10 y.o. might be the only one with an issue with that, but he would be fine and maybe we would luck out and be together.

I've been watching this board along with the wait times at TouringPlans to see what to do next week. I'm planning on going to DCA next week for a day with my DH to do the Carsland thing. He was planning on taking off Tuesday the 26th off for this, but I've looked at the APEE and there aren't any more for that day, but there is for Thursday. We leave for family vacation on Friday and did not really want to go to DLR the day before leaving on vacation, so was trying to decide if the EE was worth it to go that day or just keep our current plan for Tuesday, get there for rope drop at 8, get in line for RSR FP and hope for the best. Anyone who has been there these days have advice? There is NO way I'm waiting for 2-6 hours for RSR.

I think even if you are there at rope drop you're looking at a 2 hour standby wait. The only way to avoid that is to do single rider, Fastpass or Early Entry. FPs have been running out between 9 and 9:30. Also, remember that SoCal passes are unblocked on the 26th, and it'll be one of the last couple of days before summer blockouts fully kick in.

I think it's the FP return lines that have had 1 hour wait. I don't think it has taken people as long to get their FPs in the morning.

As for whether the machines are open for EE I couldn't say. I've heard conflicting reports myself.

Needed to point out these statements are both true - but the park didn't open on Grand Re-Opening day until 9 AM...meaning FP ran out in about 45 minutes. Since then, park has been opening at 8 AM...meaning FP are running out in just over an hour.

I do agree until the EE times start for real, how the FP distribution is done could be affected. Will they let EE people get FPs before 9 AM? (My guess is no.) Will they let them line up for FPs before other patrons get in? (My guess is...I really don't know but I'm hoping not!)

As a long-time vetran of WDWs Toy-Story Morning Mania, I am curious to see the best strategy for all this.

When Star Tours re-opened at DL last year, guests of MM could line up ahead of time for the ST FP. They did not distribute the FPs early. But you can imagine that if you were in the parks and at the ST distribution a few minutes before opening, you would definitely be ahead of the group people coming in the gates. Now, who knows what they will do in DCA, but I don't see how they could stop people from lining up if they wanted to.

My suggestion - get there AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, and get the RSR FPs right away. Then, use the single rider line for ride #1; and ride it again with the FP. The RSR FP machines are just past the Carthay Circle restaurant - they are using the machines originally installed for It's Tough to Be a Bug. You don't have walk all the way into Cars Land for the FP.

Pretty sure you mean by 8AM, and I agree that history is solid that they will not allow this. And history also says that they do not prevent EE people from lining up for FP before 8AM regular park opening.

I posted on a new thread about my experience at RSR this AM (sorry, forgot to subscribe to this thread).

We used EE through the Grand at 7 AM (got in line at 6:15). Rode RSR once, rode a 2nd time using Single Rider, tried to get a FP (after doing TSMM) and didn't get one. It was 9:10 when they ran out of FP this morning.

We were in the gates at 745 this am and the line for the fast pass was already down to tower of terror but once 8 hit the line moved very fast and I had my fast pass at 830 with a return time of 425.

We're not there until 7/10 - 7/18, after the SoCal blockout is fully in effect. I'm wondering if there will be a difference between APEE & EMH days for those that do not have an early entry option. Which early entry days will see more people in the park before the park is open to all?

It probably doesn't matter. The game plan is still going to be head straight to the RSR FP line for those that need one and to the single rider line for those who don't need to ride with someone. I have a 5 yo so I'll need a FP at least once during the trip. Additional rides may happen if my 9 yo and I are out and about alone but we'd do single rider for that.

Walked through the DCA gates at approx 7:55am this morning, went straight to the FP line for RSR, it was across from Aladdin theatre at that point, got our FP's at 8:40am and they had a return time of 6:05pm.

I'm not sure exactly what time they cut the FP line, but I know when I walked past at 9:05am they weren't letting anyone else line up, and I watched the sign zero out at about 9:10am, but there were enough people still in line that they probably did keep handing out FP's for at least another 5 minutes or so.

We got in the FP line to ride RSR at 7pm and our wait time to get on the ride was approx 25 minutes.
