Sorry if this has already been done before, but I wanted to ask about cars to any alumni at the board...

Cars? Do you recommend having one? Did you drive to Disney or take an Auto-train?

I know my parents aren't too keen about me bringing my car, but a friend of mine said she felt restricted without it...

Thanks in advance!

Trust me, if you are able to...BRING A CAR!! It makes everything sooooo much easier. And, you wouldn't always have to drive it. If you felt like taking the bus, you could. Also, the car makes shopping a million times easier.

I'd second this advice three thousand times over. Bus transportation is reliable and definitely can save you gas whenever you decide to use it. However, having the flexibility to shop on your own schedule and enjoy many of the great attractions of central Florida (and beyond) is only afforded by having a car. Like Joanna said, bring it if you can!

It sure beats the seeming hour and a half it has taken me on Lynx busses to get to the Florida Mall when CP busses aren't scheduled to run there (they do runs once weekly only).

I'm agree with everyone! It was great to use my car if I was running late to work and missed the bus! The bus was fine too but it was nice to have a choice between the two.

I did a college program without a car, and a summer with a car.

You can get by without a car, no problems. But your life will be about a thousand times easier if you have your car. You don't have to take your car to work every day and spend the gas money, but if you ever need to go to walmart or the mall when the bus isn't running (which is probably often), you'll really appreciate your own car. Plus, you'll be able to go places like universal, sea world, and the beach! and as strange as this sounds, it will probably help you make friends :)

I have used the AutoTrain twice and I definitely recommend it. It's convenient. You just drive to the train station, park your car, and get on the train. You ride for a couple of hours, go to dinner, watch a movie, and then go to sleep. When you wake up, you're roughly 40 minutes from Disney. Is the AutoTrain fun? Not really. But it does make the trip really simple.
