My DD9 has been getting migraines. Unfortunately they are becoming more and more frequent. She now gets imitrex injections. Since she is young I have the needles and the vials seperate, not the preloaded needle.

How does security handle this? My DH is a very nervous flyer. I just need to be prepared what i need to do for security so we don't have any extra hassles getting DH through the line!

I myself am a Diabetic and carry needles when I travel.....I have never had a problem going through security..... I carry a letter from my doctor telling the reasons why I have them if they should ask....Call your daugther's doctor and ask for a letter stating what the needles are used for. You should have no problem

Yes, we travel with our son with medical issues and our daughter with type 1 diabetes. We carry needles, IV lines all sorts. Get a letter from your doctor and let them know before they scan the carry on that you are carrying sharps. There are now, apparently, special marked security lines for those who have more complex carry on luggage. We have not had problems but have been slower to get through security so plan on some extra time.

I have a letter from my doctor and I've never needed it. I just tell security that I have injectable medication in the bag when I send it through the X-Ray machine. They do usually hand inspect my cooler if I am carrying unopened medication that needs to be kept cold.

DH carries needles and vials and it's not a problem. The rx label is on the box, and on this trip (b/c he is in Asia and we just wanted to be more official) I had him take the prescription sheet from the doctor (gives DH the sheet, then calls in the prescription). DH even takes the quick business line, but he's got it all down to such a science he's through in moments, even with all that he carries.

The only issue he had was in Australia, where they ban the non prescription use of what he takes...but he explained it (takes HCG to mitigate the negative effects of a pituitary tumor), showed them the label from the pharmacy, and he was fine. But that's a customs issue, not one that happened at security.

Hey, I meant to say...DH had migraines from age 3 until about 29. He almost never gets them anymore, after getting under good, gentle, chiropractic care. Even though his seemed to be genetic, as his dad got migraines all his life since toddlerhood, chiropractic has really really helped him. You might give it a try (making sure you get a good one, of course). For instance, if they have signage about "personal injury" cases, don't go to them. ;)
