Our family is taking a cruise this summer and my DH and I were considering bringing either a bottle of wine or a small bottle or rum on the ship to enjoy in the evening with our "all hands on deck" cheese platter. Does any one know the rules for carrying alcohol on board?

Thanks

DCL allows you to bring your own bottles on board.....I would suggest not packing it in your checked luggage due to possible leaks, but in your carryon should be fine. We have done it several times with no problems. If you purchase bottled booze onboard in the duty free shop they will hold the bottle until the last night of the cruise and then deliver it to your room. If you purchase bottles of booze in ports you can carry them on and keep them with you.

If you bring your own bottle of wine to the dining room they will charge you a corkage fee of $15 plus gratuity.

You can carry a glass of wine/drink from your cabin anywhere on the ship.

Have asked this before and never found an answer - can you purchase wine on board to drink in your stateroom. Notice you say they hold duty free until you leave the ship but wonder if you can drink on-board?

You can buy bottles of wine from your servers (at dinner) or from some bars and take that back to your room with no problem. They'll even provide you with champagne flutes or wine glasses. [However, the automatic gratuity will be charged for these items.]

You can probably also order some wines from room service. In fact, you can pre-order some wines even before you get to the ship and they'll be waiting for you (on ice if needed) when you arrive.

Any liquor purchased at the ship's duty free shop (Up Beat on the Magic) will be held until the end of the cruise. So, if you bought something there you wouldn't be able to consume it as it is not delivered to your stateroom until the final evening of the cruise.

how do i go about getting wine to my room before we arrive? do youknow how much that is to do?

You could order it from:

Or others have said that you can actually ship items to yourself and the package will be put into your room. I've never done this, but am planning on doing so for my next cruise. Living in CA, wine is cheaper out here than water, so I can't see paying $30 for a bottle of wine that costs me $7 in the grocery store. :)

Here's what someone else said they had done when shipping to the cruiseline:

"Ship items to:

Disney Cruise Lines
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

on the bottom left corner of the box put the following information:
ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
STATEROOM NUMBER
(Gty, if you don't know the number)
PASSENGER NAME...the passenger in whose name the reservation is listed
VESSEL:...DISNEY WONDER or DISNEY MAGIC
DATE OF SAIL
NUMBER OF BOXES: 1 of 3, 2 of 5, etc.

Ship as early as you want all you do is pay shipping costs...I think I said that...
Copy this information and put it in a safe place! I just shipped 'em 4 boxes for the May Repo cruise..."

Hope this helps. :)
