Please don't take this the wrong way!!! I heard that Disney has a license that enables visitors to carry beer as a beverage around the park. I don't drink, but my husband does and this might just perk up his "acceptance" of my choice vacation spot!!!

He doesn't drink to get intoxicated but it might just take the edge off of his nerves!!! (wow, I sound defensive here but I don't want to sound like he couldn't tolerate WDW without alcohol!)

Just wondered.....

No beer at the MK. They don't sell it and I think (hope) they won't let you bring it in. AK, Epcot and MGM - the restaurants and kiosks sell beer and you can walk around with it. Unless something has changed, DH wandered around all three parks carrying a beer.

I have been a partyer for most of my life - I mean party hearty all the time - and even with that background...if some bozo was walking around MK with a heineken in their hands I would go ballistic on the idiot - not much in life that hacks me off - but that would certainly be one - Its a kids place for crying out loud !!! I mean there are 2 to 10 year olds through the wazoo... at wdw... yeah I would be livid - a brew at the Crown ? ok - a glass of champaign or wine at france? ok - slammin a round or two back at the outer rim? ok - but toolin down mainstreet with a brew? what classless boor would do such a thing?

...I don't know, I always felt that if I had a few in me I'd take a shot at Minnie....she's pretty darn hot in that polka-dot dress of hers!

and Welcome to the DIS!! Always a great way of welcoming a newbie, insult and harass them that's what I always say!

obnurse, as you have noticed some folks on these boards aren't afraid to show their feelings. I don't feel thatthey should ban beer from MK and to be honest I didn't know it wasn't offered, but I do think thatthey shouldn't allow anyone to walk around anywhere at MK with it. As a previous poster mentioned MK is more of a kids park.

"...if some bozo was walking around MK with a heineken in their hands I would go ballistic on the idiot "

Good Lord, wouldn't a simple "No, beer isn't permitted at MK." have sufficed? :o

Guest may carry alcohol around with them in Disney studios, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, or PI. All three of thoes parks sell alcohol on tap, in a plastic bottle, or they will pour it into a plastic cup for you out of the glass bottle.

The major rule is you may only have one beer at a time. For example, you can go up to a counter yourself and ask for two beers. Your DH/DW/Friend must be at the counter themselfs and pick up their own beer (the rule might be bent a little if the DW or DH is standing just outside the line with the kids, but they must be in sight).

The Cast member serveing the drink has the final say weather or not you get the drink. What I was told when I was working on my college program at Blizzard Beach is that drinking at the parks is a privilege, not a right. :D

Sure, they ban booze in the one park where a good shot could brighten the day. :)

what classless boor would do such a thing?

There's more than one way to be a classless boor. A simple no would have been sufficient. Perhaps a beer might calm your nerves a bit.

obnurse2003..............

Welcome to the Dis and sorry about the preaching that always seems to accompany answers these days....why is beyond me. At any rate, there is no alcohol allowed at the MK, although it looks like a couple here could use one!;)

Oh, probably the same kind that would do such a classless thing at the other three "kids places". And, btw, Main St is at MK, not WDW (that is the collective term for all the property there).
If it were ok to drink at the MK, what would give you the right to go "ballistic" on the idiot?

I only see one. ;)

hahahahah too funnyeveryone isth tho thenthitive

I stand by my original statement - Beer walkin down the street ok MK - utterly classles, boorish, ignorant etc.

Hanging out at the French Quarter walking down past the rising sun drinking a beer - totally different issue

walking in MK home of Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Pooh...with a brew?
utterly classless and ignorant - I don't even smoke there

Deep breath, Nataliesdaddy! I was only asking a simple question. I agree with the MK rule of no alcohol. I was referring to Epcot really, and I had read on another board, or maybe this one, that someone had mentioned about it.

I was only asking and KNEW that I would be "scolded" by someone. Lighten up....I'm not, nor is my DH, a staggering drunken alcoholic slurring his happiness all over Disney!

Have a NICE day! :(

My very first sentence under this post was: "don't take this the wrong way".

It was a simple "want to know" question. I honestly didn't think that a Disney board would be so harsh in any of its answers. :(

well everyone is entitled to their opinion - but I stand by mine - bottom line is with even low amounts of alcohol intake occurances of several behaviors go exponentially upward - I could give you the whole run down but given your training I am sure you already know.

I guess the bottom line is that I wasn't really asking for an opinion on this matter. It was a simple yes or no question.

You're right, I don't need a whole run down on it. I do also have training on being personable and helpful. I didn't expect such a negative personal response with this question. You did go a little over and above what my question required but thanks for your input. No one is left in the dark about how YOU feel.

You don't know me at all, but I wasn't really ready for THAT!

i would classify myself as a beer snob... i am very particular about what i drink... i also am a professional and father of three... i have been to the WDW 6 times in 5 years... i would much rather they allowed beer to be consumed in MK than allow smoking... too often people smoke outside of the designated areas, right in main walkways, right by children... when i go to WDW i am on vacation, i relax and enjoy myself... i have always appreciated a cold beer in the parks (Epcot, AK and Studios) but i think it is acceptable that it is not available in MK... it is all a matter of perspective and i don't remotely see how it would be boorish to consume a beer in the home of goofy, mickey et.al.... i understand the logic behind the EtOH policy... tell your husband that of all of the parks, MK is the park that would most drive someone to drink...

as an aside, this harkens back to my personal pet peeve which is minors at pleasure island... talk about inappropriate...

Disnee Dad Says...................................I'd like to make a couple comments to nataliesdaddy.

I'd like to see "a beer walking down the street", anywhere, any place, it would be a once in a lifetime event.

I feel I would need to question someone " walking down past the RISING sun drinking a beer" I guess it would be something like......."Dude, it's 6:30 in the morning, ya think ya can put it away until you sneak it into the MK!!!" lol....

obnurse2003. How dare you ask a simple question and expect a simple answer. That would make sense! I'm laughing so hard I don't even know if you got your answer, but I bet you did.

EPCOT. Why do you think they have a Food and Wino festival (sp intended) ! To eat, drink and be merry!!!

I hope the rest of presuppositions in life are not as uninformed as that statement

The Rising Sun is a club in the French Quarter of New Orleans - where it is appropriate to stroll down the street with a drink - I haven't tied one on down there in a while but it was legal a while back - that environment would be appropriate for walking around having a drink -

I really don't care what you think - at an environment where there is such a high percentage of children it is inappropriate - there is no argument - I am sure others such as yourself would like there to be - but there isn't any

Everyone step back here and take a deep breath.... the OP asked a honest question... since there is alcohol in the other parks, they were wondering if it was allowed at MK... Innocent enough... MOST responses here have answered them in a respectful way...what is that expression, if you cannot say something nice, don't say anything at all... I am all for free speech, but let's do it with a little class and finesse... The theme park mods will be watching this thread...

I don't drink alcohol but i don't begrudge overs drinking it.

Saying that thought I am relieved that it is not on sale at Magic Kingdom.

Come on people - please no arguing. I come on here as 99.9% the people are lovely. Can we keep it like that?:D
