I just got off the phone with JetBlue. They said that as of today, you are only allowed one carryon (like one of those 22 inch rolling suitcases) and one personal item -- tote bag, pocket book or briefcase. A backpack is no longer considered a personal item. So, now it's off to buy a tote bag.

Also, for you paperless ticket holders. Check to see if you have to have a boarding pass before you go through security (which means you'd have to check in at the main ticket counter). The JetBlue rep told me I could show security my print out and then get a boarding pass at the gate, but she said that the rules change everyday. I am getting to the airport over 2 hours in advance just to make sure (I'd rather wait in the boarding area than miss my flight).

(Side note: I will be flying a A320 airbus out of JFK next week. I swear, if I didn't promise my parents I'd visit for Thanksgiving, and then going on to WDW, I'd cancel the trip. Thank goodness they serve liquor on the flight (I asked!))

Donna,
An A320 is a much different airplane than the A300. At United the config is 12 First class and 128 coach, so as you can tell it is a MUCH smaller aircraft than the one that crashed in Rockaway.

On a special note to everyone out there- please pray for one of my friends. American 587 crashed into her parents house on Rockaway, and they have identified her father as one of the victims, but cannot find her mother. It looks very slim that she wasn't in the house, but we are all praying for them. Please include them in your thoughts and prayers!:(

FlyingCircus --

Thanks for the reassurance. I wasn't worried about flying until yesterday.

My prayers and condolences for your friend's parents and my neighbors.

Unfortunately, my friend was just notified that they have found and identified her mother. The ironic thing is her mom was terrified to fly- in fact when Joann's son was born 6 months ago, Joann had to fly to NY, cuz her mom wouldn't set foot on a plane.

Oh flying circus, I'm so sorry for your friend. What a terrible tragedy. I will keep her in my prayers.
