Carry On ?

I know that we can have two pieces of carry on baggage - a small suitcase/bag and a personal item. Does a backpack count as a personal item as well or does it count as luggage? If I could omit a purse and use my backpack instead, I'd be oh so happy!!

As long as the backpack will fit under the seat in front of you, it can count as your personal item.

ok this is my first time traveling on an airplane and would like to know what i really cant pack. i will list a few things and if someone can please be helpful and respond...

-hair gel
-lysol/disinfectant spray
-hair spray


and if anyone can please add things i wouldnt be able to take?

A LOT of your questions can be answered at www.tsa.gov

Those three items can be in your carry-on in 3.4 ounce containers or smaller in a one-quart clear zipper bag; the hair gel and hair spray can be in your checked luggage in any reasonable size but the lysol spray can't, but lysol wipes can.

Perfume is a liquid and this must follow all liquid allowances.

Disposable razors are fine.
