carry on size ?

Ok, here's the "official" word from Delta:

•Baggage may not exceed 45 linear inches (or 115 cm) in combined length, width, and height.
•Baggage must fit easily in the Carry-on Baggage Check, which is located near the check-in counters and at the gate and is approximately 22" x 14" x 9" or 56 x 36 x 23 centimeters.


My suitcase is less than the 45 linear inches.

It is about 21" x 14 1/2" x 8"

I have used it before as a carry on, but I was just wondering if anyone thinks this will be a problem??

I guess I could try it and if I have to pay to check it, so be it!

We will be checking at least 1 bag for our family, but I'm trying to avoid having to pay for too many--at $25 each it can really add up!

it's a soft (cloth) rolling suitcase. I will not pack it very full--it can expand if I unzip it, but I won't do that.

Think it will be ok?

I know it fits into the overhead compartment, as I carried it on when I flew to NYC

Did you do those measurements including any wheels and feet? If so you should be ok. If not you might be pushing it.

Sadly Delta does the worst job in the industry of checking carry on sizes. So 99.9% of the time you will get lucky!

I did see them check at LAX this week but that's one flight in a hundred!

(I rountinely complain that if they ENFORCED thier rules there would be enough room for those of us who play by them and they could make even more money!)

You should be fine. The main measurement is the 21", which means the bag should fit in the overhead wheels in. Worse comes to worse, you will have to gate check it.
