Do my contacts have to be in the 1 quart bag or can I carry them seperately in my carry on.

Thanks!

My DH has placed his in his carry on and not had a problem. His are the disposable ones.

I usually take a separate quart bag and put my spare contacts a small bottle of solution and rewetting drops in the bag and take it out with my 311 bag at the checkpoint, my contacts are quarterly disposable and come in vials not the small little squares. I have not had a problem doing it that way and TSA has never questionned the separate bag.

Since they are stored in liquid, I would put them in the 311 bag.

Wrong, they are a prescription and are exepmt from the 3-1-1 rule. As previously stated the solutions and contacts should be taken out in case they want to inspect. Honestly though, I found an old small bottle of saline that I tote around in my computer bag and I travel weekly for work and I only recently found that bottle rattling at the bottom and not once have they ever noticed it, nor have I taken it out for separate inspection.

I've had them in a separate zip lock bag, and a TSA agent pulled them out and told me I needed them to fit in the quart bag. Another time I didn't have them in a bag at all and no one said anything. Both times I had one set of sealed contacts and a set in the case with the solution. I guess it depends on how new the TSA agent is :laughing:

Unless your 311 bag is bulging, I wouldn't bother making a separate bag for a pair of contacts. I had a bottle of eye drops in the bottom of my carry on by accident. You're right, they were not noticed. But for the sake of time, I find it easier to put everything in one bag.

I checked out the TSA page. It mentions saline solutions not the lenses themselves. Guess they didn't think about people bringing spare contacts on board. :confused3

All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including petroleum jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;

Babies don't get free x-rays. :lmao:

NEVER leave babies in an infant carrier while it goes through the X-ray machine.

Not wrong. It depends on the TSA agents. I carry spares. I have been told they should be been pulled out and put in the bag (scolded actually). other times nothing has been said.

Don't forget though, you fly out of DFW like I do, where the TSA agents make up their own rules.:rotfl: I was using carry on only once and had one give me heck about a quart size bag of bath salts I had. They were labeled, but he still searched my bag, swiped them with that cloth on a black stick they use, smelled of them, then ran his gloved fingers though them, still looking confused. When I laughed and politely explained they were just bath salts, he glared at me, told me to shut up, and he wasn't sure if they were allowed through or not, but didn't think they were but he'd call a supervisor and check. The supervisor finally showed up, just glanced at them, gave the other agent a disgusted look, said they were fine, and to let me go. The first agent again glared at me, said he was going to let them slide this time, but for me not to try slip them through again.:rotfl: When I got to my resort that night at WDW, I found I had a tube of mascara, a travel size lip gloss, and a small bottle of cleansing oil in my makeup bag that was under those bath salts that he'd missed. He was too concerned about my bath salts to catch what he was supposed to.:rotfl: I also had an extra pair of contacts in there too and a contact lens case with solution in it that he never said a word about.

I always put mine in a 3-1-1 quart bag with my make-up to avoid a hassle. Never had a problem.

Sorry, TSA/TSO can't make up rules willy nilly. TSA are Federal agents and they are not allowed to make up their own rules. It pays to ask them to show them (or quote) the specific rule that you are breaking. If they questions the SCRIPT then make sure they go back and reread the specific section quoted here:
