When I do go, this is probably the way I'll pack...and if anything have my bf check in 1 bag. .... I just want things to be simplified and a little bit easier so this will be my challenge for myself.
To me carryon only is more complicated because I have to know exactly what I want to wear.
Of course, having your boyfriend check a bag makes it easy since you won't really be carryon only!
I just don't want to over pack. My bf and I can each bring extra clothes in our carry ons just in case and have the one suitcase checked.
Simple then. Easy.
We should always pack clothes and necessities for the first 24-36 hours in carryons, so what you're describing is simply normal packing.
Why are you so concerned with overpacking?
We're aiming for a january trip if anything. I feel confident that I can get away with the type of clothes I'm comfortable in. I typically wear athletic clothes or leggings, sneakers and obv would pack a ton of disney shirts/tanks. I am one of those that are usually always cold too lol. Only dress I plan on bringing is a maxi with sandals so it seems manageable lol
January can be literally freezing. Throw some thermals into your bag and wool socks. It can also be 80. january is very difficult to pack for.
Takes so long to get going and to get off the plane.
That's an individual thing. If we're boarding among the first we pop in our row, have one person throw the bags up there, then they pop back in. I've seen personal item only people stand in the aisle, casually take off their coat, fold it, put it in the overhead (if DH is around he will put that coat on top of a carryon because he's seen lazy or fed up FAs close the bin to indicate it's full because of a coat, and that's maddening), stretch, then slowly get in their seat. Omg. And they will invariably get themselves 100% situated, seatbelt, headphones and eyes closed...when they are the aisle seat and no one else is next to them yet. So when middle and window show up its another 5 minute production to get them in the row.
It's the darn liquid restrictions. We pack our carry-ons to the gills & get pretty much everything we need in them but I need my shampoo, hairspray, etc. How does everyone get around the 3 oz restrictions? That's pretty much the only reason we check a bag (that & DH's golf shoes

.
I buy 100ml containers and decant decant decant.
Solid deodorant isn't a liquid and doesn't ever go in the Baggie. Makeup is usually under 100ml anyway. Many things are usually under it.
Travel size items are often half of what you could bring (aveda travel sizes are 1oz when you could bring 3.4 oz. One product I use in its full size is 3.4 oz yet they make a travel size of it...it's ridiculous) so except for hairspray (which I rarely use) I avoid them.
It's not hard at all.
We all use solid deodorant so it doesn't count
Toothpaste, sunscreen for DH, foundation for me. DH uses the shampoo there, I have no problem with fitting the bottle I use in the bag. No other hair products. I use samples for my moisturizer. I use solid coconut oil for my makeup remover so it doesn't count.
Though I will add, we prefer NOT to use carry on only. The only time we do is when we are getting back home late, there is a flight we take that lands at nearly 1 AM, and we don't want to have to wait on bags to arrive at bag check. We don't have to pay for bags on any airline we use so that isn't an issue. I'm looking forward to our trip next month, we get home at like 8:00 pm so we will be checking out bags. So much easier.
Same!!!!
