Has anyone tried to pack one of their carry on luggage bags with snacks for their trip so that when their trip is over they will have an empty bag for the all their disney souvenirs on the way home? Is this even allowed?

Yup,but we check on a small suitcase full with our other luggage..

Since most of the airlines have stopped serving meals, the only way to get food on the plane is bring it yourself! (And I've been known to pack an empty suitcase inside my checked suitcase for all the stuff I buy at WDW...)

Ditto to what everyone above said. You can bring food to eat on the plane, food to have during your vacation, even food to bring to Aunt Martha so she can have her old hometown yummies again! I think you can't bring fresh produce into Florida, but don't quote me on that. Anyway, cookies, salty snacks, cereal, peanut butter, turkey jerky, canned green beans, whatever you want to snack on is OK to bring.

We did it with a bag we checked. We had one suitcase that was nearly empty - it had 3 polar fleece sweatshirts in it that were too bulky to go in the other bags. So I tossed some boxes of granola bars, fruit snacks and a few other snacks in the bag with the sweatshirts and checked it. DS carried on some chips and mini muffins in his backpack. Not that he ate them.

I was initially against bringing food. We ended up bringing some and buying some at our grocery stop, then we ended up hauling most of it back home or leaving it in our hotel room! DH carried around the same un-opened bottle of water for four straight days. Silly. It just made the backpack heavier! Every morning I would ask if he wanted to take it out, and every morning he would insist on bringing it. Whatever.

Everything that we packed was in factory sealed packages, and I didn't put anything in the suitcase that would spill if it got squashed. Those little cups of applesauce are notorious for cracking, so we bought those when we arrived. But raisins, little boxes of cereal, things like that are fine to pack.

Thanks for the info. We will definately be able to pack some food to take down with us. That will make our grocery stop shorter (still need some fruit!) and we can get to the park quicker!

Sure its allowed. But there is no reason to do it in a carry-on bag. Go ahead and check the bag on the way down - its one less thing you have to worry about finding a place for in the plane.

I know someone that brought a case (maybe two) of Propel with him in his checked luggage. This was a few years ago when it first came out and not many places carried it.
