I'm flying southwest this weekend, and I think I'd prefer to skip baggage claim since its just a weekend trip for work. My question is:
Southwest's Policies claim that:
1.Airline passengers may now carry only one bag plus one smaller, personal-type item onboard the airplane.
2.Personal-type items include purses, briefcases, cameras, food containers, or laptops (case included).
I will have my suitcase (it's tiny and fits within the carryon limits) plus a backpack with my laptop & text books in it to do some schoolwork. The backpack will fit under the seat. Will it count as a "personal item" or will they make me check my suitcase?
If they're going to make me check it, I'll save myself the trouble of the 3 oz plastic baggie hastle, but if I can save myself time at the baggage claim, I'd be happier. (I arrive at 10:30 at night...past my bedtime...)
