I have read various suggestions about a carry-on bag. We are cruising for the first time this summer and are driving from WDW to the Port.

Do I need to pack "dress dinner clothes" for everyone. I have read that luggage is often delayed and we may not have our clothes for dinner. We were planning on wear bathing suits on board with cover-ups but I wasn't planning to carry-on our dinner clothing.

What is everyone's best recommendation? The travel party is 3 adults and one child so dress clothes (suit jackets etc...) can take up alot of room. Maybe we could carry-on a garment bag?

Thanks

I wouln't put your dress clothes in a carry on. Our luggage all arrived by 3:30 when we sailed last year. The first night is not formal.

We just packed the swimsuits, film, camera, sunscreen and documents in the day bag. The first night is casual, so you don't need to pack suits/dresses for that first night. Our luggage was there in plenty of time for dinner... although I wore what I wore during the day... capris.

I agree with the others. I'd pack the swim suits and wear on clothes suitable for dinner that evening. Not formal, but not shorts either. Capri's and a blouse, a sun dress, something like that.

The idea of wearing a swim suit all day--especially a wet one if you have nothing to change into--doesn't appeal to me at all :(
