If you've stayed at CB in the past and are looking for an alternative, you might want to consider another Moderate resort, such as P. Orleans Riverside, P. Orleans Fr. Quarter, or Coronado Springs. That way, you have a bit of a change and yet keeping within the same dollar amount. Just a suggestion.
I would say that the Value Disney Resorts are comparable to 2 star hotels. Moderate Disney Resorts are comparable to 3 star moderate hotels in general. And the Deluxe Disney Resorts are comparable to 4 star upscale hotels. There's nothing at Disney that's a true luxury hotel such as a Ritz Carlton or Bellagio. So long as you're not expecting top-of-the-line pampering for a $300/night room (and up), you are okay. Comparing Disney's Resort levels, you do see quality differences between the three, and Disney's clever in not giving away anything for free. I agree with CarolA, you are paying for the location, theme, and convienience of a Deluxe Resort. But Disney charges what people are willing to pay for, with their rooms, and they seem to do a pretty good job of keeping them filled. If I just made as much $$$ as all those folks staying at the GF, I'd be in pretty good shape.
