This is my first post and I have a question that I'm sure that some of you may be able to help me with. We visited Disney World in Dec. 1996 and stayed at the Carribean Resort and loved it. We are returning this Dec. 2007 and can't decide whether to spend the extra money and stay at Boardwalk or go back to the Carribean Resort. Is the extra money that I would spend at the Boardwalk worth it? Any suggestions?

First of ,welcome to the Disboards. If you like being able to walk to two parks(Epcot&MGM)then I think the extra $$ is well worth it.There are good resturants and some nightly entertainment on the Boardwalk. It comes down to you pay for the location, which I think is worth it.:thumbsup2

Have a GREAT trip!

I love the Caribbean Beach Resort and have never stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, but I think the BI location is fabulous if you plan to spend a lot of time at Epcot. Epcot is my and DH's favorite park and we would stay at the Dolphin everytime we go if we could afford it, just for the location.

If being walking distance from Epcot doesn't seem like a huge advantage to you, thenstaying at CBR is probably your best bet--you will be staying in a beautiful resort AND saving money!

I say boardwalk! If you have the chance to try something different go for it!

Our last stay was at CBR (August 06) and we loved it...but we are booked for our first stay at BWI next month and are sooo excited! So you can guess what my answer is =)

We stayed at CBR once, for a 10 night visit. We really liked it. We stayed at BWV last August for 6 nights and really liked that! A completely different experience staying at either. I say if you don't mind paying the extra money, try the BWI, just to have a different WDW experience. It's really cool.

Thanks for all of the tips and suggestions. I think that we are going to stay at the Carribean Beach Resort and save the extra money for other things while we are at DW.
:cutie:

BWI is a great resort, as long as you aren't on DDP, and trying to have a casual meal. This resort is bad for casual meals on DDP.

I am going to post my standard warning.

Disney advertises the BWI as "deluxe" That's for Disney, NOT as compared to the industry standard. So if your idea of "deluxe" is a Ritz Carlton, then you may be disappointed. If you understand that at Disney your premium pays for "Location" and themeing and not service/ameneties you will be fine.

IMHO Disney has overpriced the "deluxe" resorts for the value offered

The Boardwalk Inn is our favorite. We've stayed there three times.

I agree with CarolA that the deluxe resorts at WDW fall short of the industry standard for deluxe hotels. For Disney, it's all about the theming and the location. The rooms are nice, but certainly not "deluxe". I stayed in a 1500 square foot suite at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas for $299 per night. Now that was a deluxe room :goodvibes

Back to your question - I have stayed at both CBR and BWI and would choose BWI in a heartbeat.

If you've stayed at CB in the past and are looking for an alternative, you might want to consider another Moderate resort, such as P. Orleans Riverside, P. Orleans Fr. Quarter, or Coronado Springs. That way, you have a bit of a change and yet keeping within the same dollar amount. Just a suggestion.

I would say that the Value Disney Resorts are comparable to 2 star hotels. Moderate Disney Resorts are comparable to 3 star moderate hotels in general. And the Deluxe Disney Resorts are comparable to 4 star upscale hotels. There's nothing at Disney that's a true luxury hotel such as a Ritz Carlton or Bellagio. So long as you're not expecting top-of-the-line pampering for a $300/night room (and up), you are okay. Comparing Disney's Resort levels, you do see quality differences between the three, and Disney's clever in not giving away anything for free. I agree with CarolA, you are paying for the location, theme, and convienience of a Deluxe Resort. But Disney charges what people are willing to pay for, with their rooms, and they seem to do a pretty good job of keeping them filled. If I just made as much $$$ as all those folks staying at the GF, I'd be in pretty good shape.

IMHO, I would not hesitate to stay at the Broadwalk Inn. We loved the night life there and found it location to MGM and EPCOT to be very convenient.

I love the Epcot area but I would not pay the money to stay at the BW...unless you are doing the dining plan I would stay at the Swan
