Want are some positives and negatives to both of these resorts? We are coming the last week of January and have a 7 and 9 yr old. We like the look of both and have only stayed at the value resorts in the past but want to upgrade this trip. Thanks for any input.

Cost is much cheaper at CBR. CBR has a Pirate themed pool, and quiet pools at each resort. Poly has all of the bells and whistles, but you pay dearly for it.

Never stayed at the Poly, but we love CBR. Has the beach feel we love. Grounds are beautiful. Pools are very nice. Nice food court. Get a preferred room, and it is still way cheaper than the Poly.

CBR was the 1st resort that we "stepped up" from the values to. We didn't love it, but this was several years ago and I believe the resort was
in need of renovations.

I have stayed at both several times and its comparing apples to oranges kind of.... POLY has much larger rooms, nightly fireworks and EWP from the beach, monorail and boat access to MK and Epcot, trader sams, 2 very popular and highly rated restaurants on site, themed lava pool and water play area compared to CBR that has smaller rooms, albeit a nicely themed pool area, only bus access to all parks, and 1 not too recommended onsite restaurant. But the POLY will be double the price and wherever you stay your at Disney and will have a great vacation. Choose within your budget.

If you can afford go Poly all the way! I love the Polynesian. Big rooms, great views, tropical lush grounds, a volcano pool, hot tub and a giant water play area for kids, fireworks on the beach, water parade, and my two favourite restaurants: Kona Cafe for breakfast and Ohana' for dinner! Plus you have access to the monorail which means quick access to MK, and Epcot and to the other resorts and their restaurants on the monorail. You also have a cute boat that brings you to MK.

If not my favourite of all the moderate moderate resorts is POFQ because of its small size, convenience with buses (only one bus stop) and boat to DTD and its New Orleans charm. Plus you get to use all of POR facilities. Two resorts in one;) but that is just my opinion.

We've stayed at both and while it's hard to compare a moderate to a deluxe, both are great resorts. CBR was our first onsite stay and we had a great time and loved everything about the resort (beautiful grounds, great food court, fun pool, and quick & efficient transportation). With that said, the Poly is also amazing and is our favorite resort overall. We love the Poly as the tropical surroundings are beautiful, the rooms are large and spacious, the pool is great as it backs up to the beach with a distant view of the castle, dining options are great, it's convenient to MK as it's the 2 stop on the monorail, and it's within walking distance to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. I think you would have a great time at either resort as they are both great, but if the extra cost is doable, I'd go with the Poly. Good luck.

Spend as much as you are comfortable spending. These resorts are opposites. One has a monorail, the other only bus transportation.

Much butter comparison, port Orleans v. Caribbean or poly v: contemporary.

To be blunt, if you have the cash do poly.

These two resorts are not really comparable. It's like comparing a well-prepared filet mignon to a McDonald's cheeseburger.

I don't agree with that comparison, it really short changes CBR, but I do agree that a deluxe resort will be nicer than a moderate.

CBR is beautiful, rooms recently rehabbed and redecorated. No one so far has mentioned the high Epcot fireworks can be seen from in front of the pool bar.

CBR and Poly are both on my list of favorite resorts. I decide where to stay based on what kind of trip I want and how much I want to spend. Each has a few negatives IMHO, nothing major.

CBR negatives - boat rentals no longer available. Food court selections seem to be less than they used to be. No elevators to 2nd floor.

Poly negatives - public areas are crowded at times. The ceilings are really low in the long houses and the elevators look beat (I really noticed this my recent trip for some reason).

You nailed it. You decide on how much you want to spend. We can't answer that. Of course both resorts are nice, but they have different amenities.

CBR is a nice moderate resort with a nice playful atmosphere , the rooms are nice and simple and the grounds are well kept. There is bus transportation to the parks and you are really close to EPCOT and Hollywood studios, so fireworks can be viewed from the pool area. There is no scheduled renovation at this time for CBR. When I stayed there many years ago, I enjoyed it. :)

The Polynesian has several pros in regards to transportation. It is on the monorail line and you can actually walk over to the ticket and transportation center and catch a separate monorail over to MK or catch a connection to EPCOT right there.
They have remodeled the main pool and it is stunning!
****Something to keep in mind though is that they are still working on renovations and will be until Spring of 2016. Room rates will not change much but you will have the added ambiance of cranes, bulldozers and folks working behind big green walls. :)
We stayed there this past January and the main pool was closed at the time. but we got to see the new bungalows being worked on from our room. :) And we got to see the pool being worked on too. We were given free passes to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach because of the work being done on the main pool.
Right now they are working on the smaller pool and will be until early Spring 2016.

You can sit on the beach at the Poly and watch the boat parade and fireworks with piped in music. This was a definite bonus for our family. :)

Whatever you decide, you will have a wonderful stay and enjoy some great Florida weather. It is a bit chilly here then, but there is no snow and that is a bonus. lol

Well, of course you decide how much you spend. That doesn't change the fact that the Polynesian is one of the best deluxe resorts and that CBR is a nice moderate. There is no comparison. Yes, the rooms all have beds - but that's about it. Poly has several full service restaurants, monorail, beach views of the MK, etc., etc.
