 :Pinkbounc  All of the reviews of this resort (or all the ones I looked at) said they would never return to that resort, is that correct, if so, maybe I need to change my idea of staying there in April.. Any ideas???:wave2:

I have stayed at all of the moderate resorts, and while it's not my favorite moderate, I think that the Caribbean Beach Resort is a very nice resort. I'm going back there again for two nights in December. It wouldn't be my first choice for a moderate--my favorite moderate is the Port Orleans French Quarter, but since that is closed, I decided to stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

I really like the atmosphere of the resort. It's very colorful and vibrant. The food court is fantastic--lots of choices. We never ran into lines or crowds when we went there. We were able to watch the Illuminations fireworks from the beach in Trinidad South at night.

One of the problems I have with the Caribbean Beach Resort is the size of it. It's very spread out. Our room was a good fifteen minute walk from the food court/main pool. Our biggest regret of the week was taking a room in Trinidad South because it was available when we checked in at noon time rather than wait for a room in Martinique later in the day.

One of the other problems I have with the resort is that the Custom House where you check in and where guest relations in isn't very convienent to get to. We ran into a long line when we checked in, but that was in part because it was around the official check out time, and in part because we arrived shortly after a Disney Cruise line bus. We waited over 45 minutes to check in, and another 20 to get a bellman to take us to our room.

I would recommend the Caribbean Beach Resort to anyone. Research the resorts in your price range, and if you feel that the Caribbean Beach Resort is a good fit for your family, then you're making the right choice.

:bounce:  thanks for the response. I thought I would try something different. Have 9 year old twin boys and stayed at All Star Sports in April, but it is looking like CBR is something more for adults then kids, so guess I will keep thinking about it. It definately it something (the walks to everything) is a problem with them. I appreciate any feedback from anyone.

Thanks again

I have stayed at all 4 moderates and CBR is my favorite, with the last trip being a week ago. I don't have kids but there were lots of families with young kids there. We always saw kids playing at the playground on the beach near our room in Barbados. There are nice quiet pools in each village in addition to the main pool. The rooms were recently renovated, ours was in good shape. They put a curtain you can pull over for privacy in the sink area of the bathroom, the only moderate that has that as far as I know. They also have 2 sinks vs 1 at CSR. I like the grounds at CBR the best. All the moderates are spread out where some rooms are far from the food court. We requested a room close to the food court, our room in Barbados 15 was about a 5 minute slow walk.

I don't know where you were reading these reviews of CBR but there are many many satisfied visitors to CBR.

We have been staying there for many years. I have stayed at all the moderates and CBR is our favorite.

You should read the CBR FAQ thread. It is up to date with reviews and suggestions for the resort. If you have any questions about CBR I suggest you post them in that thread.

:earsgirl:  that I did but I really read on the new site and the last question was would you stay there again and most gave 1 star, but someone said that they didn't know why 1 star came up cause they put 4 stars so could there be a problem with that. MY kids want to go to Jamaica so I thought Jamaica in DW would kill 2 birds with one stone. Thanks again for your feedback and I will keep looking:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I think there is a problem with just giving stars in a review. You don't know what the poster was expecting when they went to a resort. If you are referring to the poll on the DIS boards I don't think they ask the right questions on any of the resorts.

I wouldn't use that poll as my source when determining where to stay in WDW.

We stayed at CBR last year and I was not really excited about it. I problably would not choose it again. It is so big. The room was nice. The year before we had stayed at POR Riverside and loved it. POR has IMHO a nicer food court than CBR. Also at POR you can ride a nice peaceful boat to DTD. DH really enjoyed that boat ride. :hyper:

The food court at CBR is much nicer now since the remodel. You also have central checkouts like POR.

We like to watch the Epcot fireworks from the beach in CBR. It is almost like being there.

Before my husband and I bought into the DVC, we always stayed at the CBR. Even before it was refurbished, we truly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in Martinique and found it to be quite close to the food court and shops. We love the walking as it was good exercise for us. I'll be heading back to CBR in December with my sister and I'm looking forward to the stay. I think you'll enjoy it as well if choose to stay there.

We stayed at CBR on our first trip to WDW and we were entirely happy with it.

It's a lovely place and we enjoyed swimming in both the main pool (the kids loved that) and the small pool near our building. We found the food court to be good with enough variety to satisfy everybody in the family.

I'm sure you'll have a great time there!

We've stayed at CBR 3 times and have enjoyed each stay. Our second stay, before I found the wonderful disboards, we were put in Trinidad South. It was a lesson learned...but still fun! We used the resort bus a lot that just circled the resort. We love the theme at this resort..it also doesn't seem so congested, maybe because it is spread out?

We stayed at CBR back in 1999 and will be staying there again in just 18 days!!!! :earseek: We had 3 adults in the room and never felt cramped. I also thought the mousekeeping service was great.

The only reason it's taken us so long to go back was that we wanted to try other resorts. I thought the atmosphere was very relaxing and enjoyed the short walk between our building (I think we were in Jamaica) and the Old Port Royale. The bus service also was probably the best of all the other resorts I've stayed at.

We're renting a car, so even if we don't get the building/village we requested we can always drive to the Old Port Royale if we're just too pooped to walk!

Hopefully you'll have a great time. :sunny:

Love the CBR. I give it five mickeys in the moderate resort category.::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

We stayed at CBR for the first time last year, and we can't wait to go back. We loved it. It is spread out, but personally, I don't see the problem with that. I don't want to be walking on top of people. Sometimes the parks are crowded, so it's kind of nice to feel more spread out. It has pretty landscaping, it's quiet and VERY relaxing. I don't know anyone who can't use a little bit of a walk.;) And it's so beautiful, you don't realizing you're getting some exercise.

I will be there in 23 days and I can hardly WAIT!::yes:: Thanks for ALL the info I have read on this board, and the questions that were answered. I am requesting Martinique #26 and hope to get it.;)

We have enjoyed our stays at CBR. We will be returning there this December per my DM's request. I saw the star rating recently and it was rated 3 1/2 stars overall. There were both good and bad reviews like all the resorts.

All you can do is try it and decide for yourself. If it isn't for you then you don't have to stay there again. Everyone has different opinions, tastes and preferences. What is right or great for one may not be for others.

Obviously you saw something in the CBR that you liked. Always go with your first instincts. If it doesn't work out then you gave it a try.

Let us know what you decide or how you do or don't like it.

Ditto on the CBR. We love it there and have even chosen to stay there over deluxe resorts when we need our CBR fix. Will be there in November and cannot wait!

We will be there on Friday. We only stayed there once before (3 years ago) but we loved it. I loved the theme and atmosphere. We visited other resorts when we were there last time and we considered staying somewhere else, but I loved CBR so much I decided to go back there. We were in Trinidad North last time and the private pool was not being used much by other guests so we were usually the only ones in it, so we felt like we were staying in a private resort. Even though it is a large resort the "villages" make it feel very private. I can't wait to check in on Friday.

The CBR is a great resort! The landscaping is beautiful, the resort is very bright and has been clean for every one of our stays. This is the first on site resort we ever stayed at. We weren't crowded in the rooms at all. It's a very relaxing resort because you can stroll the walkways, lounge on the beach hammocks and go the the quiet pools in each island if you don't want to head to the main pool. We really enjoy Old Port Royale too. Our favorite island is Martinique.
