On an upcoming trip to WDW, we're going over to CBR-after many, many WDW trips, it's the only resort we've never been to. Anything special we should make a point of seeing there? No doubt we'll stop at the food court and eat. Anything anyone would recommend there?

Some of our favorite things to do:

Rent a Surrey Bike
Stroll around the lake at sunrise or sunset
Grab a drink and watch Illuminations from the Martinique Beach
Take a nap on one of the many hammocks
Enjoy some s'mores while listening to the knowledgeable CMs tell some WDW history
Catch a movie poolside
Try the homemade potato chips - been trying to recreate the spice combo at home, but no luck yet
Have a seat on one of the 2 person swings on Caribbean Cay in the AM and watch the boats on the lake
Our DS11 loves the Pirate Cruise

Check out the CBR FAQ Thread for more details.

are the S'mores at one spot or are they at all the beaches for each section? :)

You can see Illuminations from CBR beach??? You're kidding? I'd rather do that than to wait in the huge crowds at Epcot, then trying to leave the park is a nightmare sometimes...Any particular spot??

I liked exploring the bridge across the lake. Very pretty, and hidden nooks.

You can only see the higher fireworks. We watched from our walkway by our room in Jamaica.

This just sounds like so much fun! If I remember from the Map, Caribbean Cay is an island across the bridge in back of the main building?

Yup. Our favorite location to stay is Jamaica 45 and love the beautiful stroll across the bridge and through Caribbean Cay to OPR and the main pool. :goodvibes

The one time we stayed there, there was a baby alligator chilling in the lake by the pool bar. According to the lifeguards at the pool and the pool's bartenders, usually one will show up once a year or so, especially after a few days with heavy rain. They named him "Richard" and we began every morning of our trip by checking up on him. Sadly though, he was "removed" at some point during our last night, in the words of a lifeguard.

So yeah, make sure you check for alligators when you're walking around the lake! :thumbsup2

Alligators are not going to swallow you up at Disney, not even on Peter Pan's Flight or Splash Mountain.

Jamaica 45 is what we'll request in Sept...Of course there are no guarantees, but we'll try!!! We want to be closer to pool..We will be driving to Disney, so not too concerned with being close to main building, etc..As a matter of fact, if the buses take too long, we'll drive to parks too!
