Carribean Beach Club - which building?

I thought that I had read a while back that if you book a land/sea package and are staying at the Carribean Beach Club that Disney seems to use a certain building. Does anyone know if this is true and if so which building would we be in? My sister in law is there now and was going to check it out for us. Thanks everyone!

Kathleen,
We did the land and sea in 2000, and stayed at the CBR. However, we made a special request to have a certain room, as it was the same room we honeymooned in in 1992. I truly love the Jamaica section. Our room was right next to the bus pickup, right next to the bus entrance, so you are the first dropped off at night, and first picked up in the morning. Very nice!

One quick cavet: The land and sea is something we won't do again. There just was too little time on land and on sea. You cannot do Disneyworld in 4 days. Not if you want to do it right. That's one day per park, leaving out the water parks, downtown disney, disneyquest (which we loved, although we would have never guessed). Once we got on the boat, we were completely exhausted. And 3 days at sea are not enough! In the future, we will do either 7 day sea or 7 day land.

I hope you enjoy the Caribbean Beach Resort. It is truly a wonderful Disney memory for my wife and I!

We always stay at CBR, and are doing so before our cruise this year.

Our personal favorite is Trinidad North bldg. #32.

I would rank them this way:

1. Trinidad North #32 (Close to OPR, smallest and hence quietest village)
2. Trinidad North #33 (Slightly farther away but closer to quiet pool)
3. Martinique #25 or 26 (Very close but a bit noisier)
4. Any Jamaica bldg. (Across the bridge but still a short walk to OPR)

LEAST desirable:

1. Barbados (Just TOO far away from OPR and the pool)
2. Trinidad South (Ditto above)
3. Trinidad North #31 (Smoking bldg. Yuck.)

I don't know if you have to stay in a particular bldg. when you're on a land/sea package. I have always booked each phase seperately. If you're given a choice, refer to the above and I think you'll be happier!

Kathleen,

We stayed at CBR in June in Martinique #23. Martinique #24 and #25 are closer to OPR. However, I didn't mind the short walk to OPR. Trinidad South is far away from everything and the last bus stop so would be the least desirable. Barbados is also far away but is one of the first bus stops. I usually recommend that people schedule the DCL and WDW as two separate vacations. That way you can do as many days at WDW prior to or after the cruise and then do either 3 or 4 day cruise. It gives you more flexibility and is usually cheaper.

CBR is beautiful and I'm sure you will enjoy your stay there and the cruise.

Nancy : are you saying I won't have time to read "Hard Eight"?
Oh No!

Actually we are doing the 3 day land/4day sea. I thought that i had read that the cruise people seem to be put in one area of the resort. I wasn't sure if I had dreamed that or what.

I am planning on relaxing and reading some so I will let you know after the trip how it went.

Thanks for your help.

Kathleen:)

Kathleen,

You probably won't have any time at WDW to read, but you will get time to on the cruise especially since you are doing the four day. Do you have the Freeport stop or the day at sea? The hardest part will be once your mom gives you back Hard Eight not to read it till you get on the book. Remember to bring one other book with you as its a fast read.

I know there were people that I talked to at CBR who were going on the cruise and they were staying in Barbados. However, they didn't mention that they had to stay there because of the cruise. I did CBR after the cruise. Are you using the DCL bus to get over to the port? I wouldn't think it wouldn't matter what building you are staying in as long as you get to the Custom House the day you leave on time.

Enjoy CBR and the cruise.

Nancy

We went on the 4 day land/3 day sea Wonder cruise the end of May and stayed at CBR. We were at Barbados. It is a long walk to the custom house and restaurants but the bus stop, pool, and laundry room were real close by. We didn't really mind the long walk as the lake is beautiful and felt we could use the exercise since we knew we would be eating A LOT on the cruise!!

WE have a day at Freeport but we have nothing booked for the day. We have the dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon booked and parasailing and banana boat at Castaway Cay. I thought that sounded like enough. But DD and DH might have plans for Freeport day, as for me a book and a massage sounds like heaven. We do have disney transfers so I think that should make it a little easier for us.

My sister in law is at the CBR right now and was excited that you could see the Epcot fireworks from the resort. I know the resort is large and can't wait to see it. We had stayed at Dixie Landings before so this will be a new experience.

A little over a week to go and my DD is bursting with excitement. Hope she isn't disappointed.;)

Jamaica Bldg. 45 is our favorite. We just spent 10 days there last month. Close to the Jamaica pool and beach and also close to the bridge to OPR.

Are you talking about the Carribean Beach Resort, or the Beach Club Resort? They are two very different places.

If this thread stays on long enough, you'll probably get recommendations for every village in CBR! But that doesn't really help you, so to help you decide, my questions would be:

Do you want to avoid long walks?
Do you care about noise levels?
Will you be using Disney Transportation?
Are you smokers?
Do you have children and if so what ages?

There are good reasons to stay in ALL of the villages. Answering the above questions may help us make more informed recommendations for you specifically.

Let me see if I can give you all the answers.

No I don't want to walk too much (we'll be doing enough of that in the parks)
NonSmokers
Quiet at night
We do have disney transportation
Daughter 9 years old

Thanks for your help.

Kathleen -

Given that information, my suggestions would be:

1st choice: Trinidad North #32. It's the smallest village (It has only 3 buildings. All other villages have 6) so it's usually the quietest. It's a short walk to OPR and the pool. Bldg. #31 is closer, but it's a smoking bldg. Yuck.

2nd choice: Trinidad North #33. Same as above, just a little further away. 33 is also closer to the private "quiet pool".

3rd choice: Jamaica #45 or Aruba #51. These are across the bridge from OPR and the pool, but it isn't a very long walk. These 2 particular bldgs. are the closest to the bridge.

Martinique #26 is by far the closest bldg. to all the 'action', but for that reason it is usually noisier, too.

Just stay away from Barbados and Trinidad South, or you will be walking quite a bit!

Take a look at the map of the resort to get a feel for where things are, I think you'll see what I mean!

Hope this is helpful!!

Kathleen,

At Freeport, we just took a taxi to the one shopping area for something to do. The port is aways from the town so you do have to take a taxi, but they were all lined up by the ship. There is also a small straw market right by the ship you can walk to. Freeport is much cleaner than Nassau and less pushy by the locals to purchase stuff.

I hope to get to have that massage and read.

Nancy

The first bus stop at CBR is Jamaica which is nice in the bus is empty when it arrives.

Kathleen, I hope you get the time to read Hard Eight! I read the whole thing on Tuesday. I had surgery on Monday & while I had the day to myself (no toddler!) to recover, I finished it. Even on percocet, it's a fast read!

Enjoy your trip :D

Thanks Gillian:

I've been saving that book for the trip. That is tops on my agenda. Hope everything is okay and recuperation is fast. Only 7 days to go.
