Can anyone tell me about their experience with the carriage rides at Port Orleans. Some things that I would be interested in knowing:
Do the rides begin at POR or POFQ?
What is the price?
How long is the ride?
Where does it go?
Did you feel that it was a romantic ride or a fun ride?
What was your personal experience like?

TIA!!!

Hi. I've just booked one for our trip later this month so I can answer some of the questions. It leaves from POR (must arrive 15 mts. before your reservation time to the marina by Boatrights), cost $30 for the 30 minute ride (must pay the driver cash only but you do have to give a cc# to guarantee), can fit 2 adults & 3 children and is available if I'm remembering correctly from 6pm to 9:30 pm on the half hour. Oh, also drinks are allowed to be brought with you.

The carriage rides are $30 for up to 4 people and the ride lasts 30 minutes. They are every 1/2 hour from 6-9:30pm.

I've never done it though, so I can't answer the rest of your questions. :flower:

My DH and I took a carriage ride at Port Orleans last week for our anniversary. We found it to be romantic, but I would recommend bringing along champagne or whatever you like to drink to add to the ambience. Our carriage went through Riverside and some of the French Quarter, with some of it going along the river.

It was a 30 minute ride and cost $30, plus we decided to tip the driver. However, I read somewhere that the price and length of the ride has recently changed. Its now $35 for 25 minutes.

You probably want to book ahead. We did. When someone approached our driver after our ride, she said they were booked solid for the evening and suggested making reservations for later in the week.

Enjoy!

We did this in June and it was SO nice. We booked the last ones of the day, so it would be getting dark and cooler...which it was. As for romantic, I can't see this. The horse is loud in my opinion....clop, clop, clop! Plus there are people everywhere really. When you go through POFQ, it is a really tight ride down the sidewalks.

It is worth every penny though, go for it!

Oh, you can pay cash OR your Room Key! Trust me, that is how we paid, our room key! Added the tip right on there as well.

Oh and not to scare anyone, but the driver we had was telling us that the horse we had got spooked a while before that....they ran into a snake. The horse went out of control. Nothing happened, but still a bit scary to think about, especially when you are right along the water!

Each horse has a driver that they are always with, so they know them well.

Yes, I read the same thing. It is now $35 for a 25 minutes ride.

Thank you for all the information... do you make reservations at 407-WDW-play?
