Has anyone taken the carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside? I signed up to do it our first full day there, a rest day. It will be when it is dark and I want the boys to enjoy it. It is one of the few magical things that we have never done but I don't want to waste the $$ if it stinks!

Any thoughts?

we went and really enjoyed it.. I have a 3 yr old princess that just loved the sound of the horse clopping his feet on the ground.. very neat experience! I think its a must! At least for 1 time thing! Your boys will love it! Very neat scenery and the guy talks up front to you too .. we tipped him 5.00 bucks I don't know what the norm is...

My DH and I did it on our trip a few weeks ago. Had not booked it prior but were able to take advantage of someone else's cancellation!! I am happy we did it. The ride was longer than I expected and was quite nice! It takes you along the river down to French Quarter where we went through the parking lot and then through the streets of FQ back onto the path to POR. Our driver was quite talkative so I did not find it specifically a "romantic" thing to do but just a very scenic ride. The driver asked if we had a camera before we started out and took a picture of us. Also loved the sound of the horse's hooves clopping along!!

Who do you contact to book this ride? We are staying at POR and this might be something that I would be interested in doing. Thanks

I believe the last departure is 9:00 p.m. - or at least it was for the week between Xmas and NYE. However, the tours department will be able to confirm that for you.

Also, it was only $30 for the carriage (not per person). That seems like a good deal to me! Have fun! :moped:

Actually, the price is $35 now. Not sure when they raised it. We also gave the driver a $5 tip.

So for those that have taken it did you do it at night or has anyone gone during the afternoons? Also when booking do you need a credit card to book? I am so interested in doing this but all of our nights are kind of booked up so I was wondering about a day trip..thanks for any suggestions.
