Carpeting help needed

My carpet won't die! We purchased it 20plus years ago and it's still going strong. Sad thing is they don't make anything like it anymore since it was so durable no one had to replace it. So I need help. What type of carpet material should I be looking at? Can anyone recommend a brand they like? I definately want a cut pile. Something durable & stain and fade resistant. We're emptynesters so no kids or pets. I'm not looking to spend alot, something "middle of the road". It will go throughout the house and one stair case. TIA
